Ok well if you want to learn chords first thing you should do is learn how to form scales and I am guessing that you already know how to form a major scale on the piano but if you don’t it is basically the formula of
Whole step, whole step, half step, whole step, whole step, whole step, half a step.
Now that is meaning the distance between two keys is a half step so from C to D is a whole step and from E to F is a half step. From Db to D is a half step, and from Ab to Bb is a whole step.
So if you are going to figure out the C scale you would use that formula and you would get C D E F G A B C
Ok now that you know how to form scales now you can learn how to form chords. And the formula for a Major chord is the root note which is what the chord is. And you go a whole step then another whole step and that is the second note. Then you go up a Step and a half and that is the next note. So a C major chord would be C E G And a D major would be D Gb A. And a B major would be B Db Gb. Ok so its as simple as that.
Ok if you want to form minor chords you will just take a major chord and lower the second note a half step. So a C minor would be to take the C major Which is C E G and lower the E one half step Which would give you C Eb G. Ok that a C minor chord. And a F minor would be F Ab C. Se we lower the A one half step to Ab.
Ok now I am going to tell you how to form diminished chords and that is basically to Take a major chord and lower the Second and the third note a half step So a C diminished chord would be.
C Eb Gb. Its as simple as that Ok a B diminished chord would be B D F. Ok so now you should have a little understanding on how to form Major Minor and Diminished chords.
