Some of the countries that have adopted Spanish language as their state language are Cuba, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Paraguay, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Mexico, and Equatorial Guinea, besides Spain itself. With so many countries speaking Spanish, it could be a great thing to learn and use it during travels to those countries. Spanish as a language can become the carrier of world tours in the process.
Spanish or the Castilian is basically a language of Romance and comes under the Ibero Romance Group of languages. Evolving out of multiple dialects and languages in the northern fringe of the Iberian Peninsula during the tenth century, it spread gradually outward to various countries. Ultimately it became the principal language in the entire Spanish empire.
Origin of the Spanish language is linked to Latin that is the basis of all the romance languages in the world. Apart from Latin, the language has also been significantly influenced by Arabic language.
From sixteenth century onwards, Spanish was adopted by Americans and the influence of writers like Cervantes helped it grow in popularity considerably.
Spanish is recognized as one of the official languages of United Nations. Spanish speaking countries also are linked to other international organization that recognize the language officially such as the European Union, Organization of Ibero American states, Union of South American Nations, Latin Union, Caricom as well as the North American free Trade Agreement.
