This article is about “Learn beginners zumba online free”, you can find here a huge variety of articles about “Learn beginners zumba online free”:

So many Zumba beginners are really not that familiar with the basics of this aerobic dance workout. If this is true for you, then this article is right up your alley.

First let me give you a little background information on this exciting Latin dancing aerobic workout, just in case you didn’t already know. Many individuals today have recently stated, “ZUMBA may be the most effective dancing workout regimen that they will ever do! “

And they further state, that the only real requirement to this exhilarating dance workout is to “Have a GREAT TIME!” Which doesn’t seem that difficult to do.

This aerobic dance workout phenomenon has and it seems will continue to spread throughout the USA and now the world.

Worldwide more people are recognizing the very compelling body shaping and fat burning benefits of this dance workout. In fact, many Hollywood celebrities have already joined the so-called “Dancing Party!” With so many Zumba beginners you maybe at this point asking yourselff — What is Zumba?

This Latin-based dancing workout is a unique blend of Latin, International, Contemporary and other styles of music — infused with a unique and compelling dance workout style. It seems more fun than exercise. However, while the music will get you moving to the beat — its use of high intensity interval training — fast music followed by slower pace music — that really makes it a very effective fat burning workout.

Consequently, if you’re interested in losing pounds and inches you may want to give this dance work out try.

The exercise protocol mentioned earlier, is referred to as “Interval Training.” And to make it even more effective it combines interval training with their unique toning sticks. Looking at this type of dance work out it resembles an exciting dance with maracas. The use toning sticks add a resistance element to the workout. And as a result you begin to reshape and re-sculpt your body.

This allows this aerobic dance work out to easily target and re-sculpt your entire body! That means get ready to have a firmer butt, legs, arms, shoulders, midsection and of course all your core muscles.

Is It Only for Zumba Beginners?

The fact of the matter is that just about anyone, any age, any sex — can perform this type of cardio vascular dance workout. You do not need to know how to dance or even how to gyrate your hips. This is another unique component to this aerobic dance workout. You can go at your own pace fast or slow and as a result increase the amount of calories you are burning during your exercise session. You really don’t need any fancy clothing or any special kind of workout pants. Although the Zumba pants are made especially for this workout.

Consequently, thousands upon thousands of dance workout beginners either have purchased the workout DVDs or have attended a dance exercise class. Sometimes they do both!

At this point, you may be asking yourself — Where the Heck Did Zumba Come from. On the other hand, who invented this crazy fat burning Workout?

The creator is none other than celebrity fitness trainer Alberto “Beto” Perez. A South American fitness trainer that arrived on US shores and has quickly achieved the American dream. His unique aerobic dance workout — without the benefit of a heavy advertising budget — has caught on simply because it’s fun and effective. Many Zumba beginners have realized that there is something lacking in many cardiovascular or aerobic classes that they have taken before.

Many of these aerobic workouts have come and gone before. There has been Kickboxing, Billy Blanks Tae Bo, and some of the newer products such as Turbo Jam, Hip-Hop Abs and others.

Regardless, of whatever workout you decide to try one of the best strategies is to purchase the DVDs. They typically come with a 30-day money back guarantee and you can try them out in the comfort convenience and “embarrassment free zone” of your home. If you don’t like that particular workout you can always return it and get your money back. This is probably the best thing for those Zumba beginners.

This article is about “Material evidence linking the defendant to the crime”, you can find here a huge variety of articles about “Material evidence linking the defendant to the crime”:

Although it is difficult to get a successful result in an online defamation issue, it can be done by carefully establishing who is making the comment, and where they are based. Other important considerations are how damaging the comments are and whether threats might drive the defamer to make further comments. Litigation and threats of litigation are not always the best way forwards but they can be a useful tool. The Facebook case illustrates one such instance where litigation was used to stop defamation on a social networking site.

The Facebook case: A modern take on defamation

Many web users have a false belief that they can say anything they want on the internet and not be held responsible. The courts are finding otherwise. In the most recent English case, Applause Store Productions Ltd v Raphael [2008] EWHC 1781 (QB) (QBD), a man was held liable for comments made on Facebook. Although the limits of defamation law were hardly stretched in this case, it is interesting to see how the court responded.

The case involved Mathew Firsht, the owner of Applause productions, a well known company which provides audiences for television shows. He did not have a Facebook account. In June 2007 a fake profile was placed up on Facebook in an account using Mr. Firsht’s name. This featured extensive personal information about him including his sexual orientation, political views, religious beliefs and a picture – supposedly of Mr. Firsht – but which was actually a copy of the profile picture from his twin brother’s Facebook page. The profile also included a link to a Facebook Group called ‘Has Mathew Firsht lied to you?’ In this case there was no dispute about whether the material was defamatory but only over whom had put up the profile and the group.

The defendant, a Mr. Raphael who had been a friend of Mr. Firsht and also knew him professionally, had his identity revealed after Firsht’s lawyers sent a take down notice to Facebook and obtained a Norwich Pharmacal order against Facebook. The order required Facebook to disclose not only the registration data but also details of the IP addresses and email addresses which created the profile.

The profile had in fact been created by someone at Mr. Raphael’s IP address. After the profile was created all relevant activity which occurred on the fake account continued to come from Mr. Raphael’s IP address. The same IP address was also used during this time to login into two other Facebook accounts: Mr. Raphael’s account and Mr. Raphael’s girlfriend’s account. The fake account had only been signed into from two different computers at the IP address which included Mr. Raphael’s computer and his girlfriend’s laptop which he admitted he often used. The facts about the IP address and login details were not refuted by Mr. Raphael.

The case gets even stranger. Mr. Raphael’s defence was that he did not create the profile and that the evening the profile was created he and his girlfriend had met a group of strangers at a bar who then returned home with them and spent the night. He said that one of them must have created the profile from his computer. He did not give an explanation of how someone else had been logging into the account from his IP address on the subsequent times the account had been accessed which would have been after the fake profile creating stranger left his home. He instead choose to defend himself by relying on alibi evidence that he had not been at home on the other occasions when the Facebook profile had been accessed so it had to have been someone else.

The judge did not believe his story at all (rightly so) and decided that Mr. Raphael had in fact been the one to put up the false profile as well as the defamatory group. Although the profile was not visible for a considerable length of time, 16-17 days, the judge ruled that due to the popularity and nature of Facebook, which targeted the material towards people who knew Mr. Firsht, the materials were particularly damaging. The Judge also ruled that the allegations of dishonesty were serious enough to harm Mr. Firsht’s business so allocated the award with £15,000 to Mr. Firsht personally, £5,000 to his business and an extra £2,000 for breach of his privacy. In this case, Mr. Raphael learned to his chagrin that comments made online can be costly and that lawyers can often get around the anonymity problem with IP addresses identifying computers not users.

Liability of Internet Service Providers

The other point to bear in mind when discussing defamation on the internet is that in some jurisdictions, including England, Internet Service Providers can have liability for content on the sites they host. They can be liable even if they were merely passively hosting the site unless they take down the objectionable material when they receive notice of it. The famous case on this point in England is Godfrey v. Demon. In that case, an unknown person purporting to be Godfrey put up a comment on Demon’s server. The statement was defamatory. The real Mr. Godfrey asked to have it removed telling Demon that it was fraudulent. When Demon failed to remove the post Godfrey sued for defamation and won. This case established the importance of ISPs treating complaints seriously and investigating and taking down any content that can be considered defamatory.

Since this case, the E-commerce directive has come into effect which also has ramifications for when a host can be liable in defamation (or for other acts). ISPs are in a difficult position. On the one hand if they remove any content posted by their customers they could be in breach of their customers’ contractual rights (unless their contracts expressly absolve them from liability in certain circumstances) On the other hand if they don’t remove the content they could become personally liable for it to third parties.

Under the E-commerce Directive most ISPs will be viewed by the courts as a mere conduit and therefore not liable for the content, as long as they do not initiate the transmission, select the receiver of the transmission and do not select or modify the information in the transmission. Nevertheless, ISPs will still have liability if they are notified of infringing material and then refuse to take it down, and there are those who believe their responsibilities should be broadened further.

The position in the USA

In the United States, ISPs are not liable for defamatory information but they are often joined as co-defendants in lawsuits with John Doe.? There is a purely practical reason for doing this. ISPs are becoming increasingly wary of divulging information about their users since it could be an invasion of privacy.

By joining the ISPs as defendants, once the lawsuit is initiated lawyers can make discovery demands of the ISP to get all of the relevant data which could help them trace the unidentified user who posted the comment. Once the user is identified the ISP is usually dropped from the lawsuit and the user remains the sole defendant.

These laws not only have ramifications for ISPs but for any company which has a forum or allows user generated content on their website. Many companies are not aware that they themselves can be found liable for defamation due to actions of employees or other third parties on these websites. In-house lawyers are becoming increasingly aware of the laws on defamation and privacy in order to take adequate steps to protect their employers.

What to do

If you find that you are the subject of a defamatory comment online there are a number of things that can be done. Clearly balance the seriousness of the comment with the costs associated with getting it taken down. The last resort option would involve going to court to get disclosure orders. Unless the comments are particularly grievous or widespread other avenues should be explored first.

If you are dealing with a hate site that uses a domain name similar to your company name there may be the possibility of trying to retrieve the domain name through a UDRP or other dispute resolution policy. However, this can be risky since at the moment it has not been decided whether these types of sites constitute fair use under the rules. The other problem with this method is that you may inflame the situation further. Also your efforts could be wasted if the site simply reappears on another non-infringing domain name.

Another option is to address the comment in the press or on your own website. Recently, in Israel, an anonymous internet user began a hate campaign against Israel’s best known maker of dairy products. Defamatory comments were posted on a variety of websites and also sent around through emails. The company responded to the situation by posting comments on the website and also sending out their own emails via employees which defended their business. This approach has been successful as content is no longer being posted and the record has been set straight for anyone doing future web searches.

It should always be kept in mind that attacks are often short lived. Surprisingly the best option sometimes can be to deal with the situation by ignoring it, and possibly using SEO strategies to keep the site or the comment low down in the search results. The comment or website will often disappear since it takes a lot of energy to keep the site sufficiently prominent.

This article is about “James shea poet”, you can find here a huge variety of articles about “James shea poet”:

Chuei Yagi is a Japanese poet, prose-writer, and essayist. He graduated from Nihon University College of Arts and served as the Chief Editor for Shicho-sha, and General Manager of Ginza Saison Theater in Tokyo. He has published many poetry and prose books, which include two collections of haiku and two collections of essays. He is a recipient of the Hanatsubaki Modern Poetry Prize. Ban’ya Natsuishi and James Shea translated the poems in this publication for Yagi.

The first poem addressing the Milky Way is juxtaposed with a battlefield and sends a chill down the spine. One is able to see the intermingling of the snow with blood in this imagery, which is as follows:

The red wintery Milky Way

straddling a battlefield.

One doesn’t have to be a soldier on a battlefield to experience this dilemma. Just attending a movie is enough to see the blood, guts, and glory of crimson red in such a situation. When mixed with snow the picture is obvious as stated by Yagi.

The imagery in the next poem is another vivid eye opener. Imagine being frozen stiff to the bones in winter; that is the imagery in this piece which speaks for itself:

Out of a winter storehouse

carrying winter bones.

The imagery this haiku poem carves into the senses is chilling. Winter warehouses are always cold. Being cold to the bones is more than just a statement. It becomes truth in the winter season for many without heat, especially the elderly.

If one is not used to the temperature in Okinawa in the summer time, then one must be prepared to strip down and carry a case of suntan lotion. The following haiku gives a prime example of what it is like in the summer:

Okinawa:

a snake hanging

and burned.

Obviously humans are not snakes; however, the snake is capable of finding shelter a human is incapable of finding. If the snake is catching hell, what would one expects a human to experience in the same situation of survival.

On the other hand, the ending of the rainy season brings a different picture and a breath of fresh air to many. The color of the sky is obviously different, clouds have changed, and the songs of nature are once more refreshing. The following poem gives a perfect example of this imagery:

Rainy season over

a giant blue ribbon

in the sky.

What a wonderful and refreshing sight for all to see and experience first-hand. The senses are stimulated by a new birth and a new dawning of the sun. Ban’ya Natsuishi and James Shea certainly assisted Yagi in an exceptional manner with the translations of these poems in this publication. This is just a wonderful integrated approach of poetic artistry!

Your Family Tree: Eight Great Genealogy Resources To Find Out Who Your Ancestors Were

If you want to find exciting discoveries about your ancestors, find out when your ancestors came to the this country and from exactly where, there are great genealogy resources, both online and offline, to help you. The following eight resources are relatively inexpensive, or free, for you to use in building your family tree.

1: Go to your local public Library – Talk with a Librarian.

Your best first genealogy resource is inside your library: the librarian. Your library may have Handouts, Worksheets, journals, genealogy books, reference material, access to commercial databases, and more. You need to ask the librarian what is available in the library, as well as what may be brought in to the library (microfiches, inter-library loan, and more). A wealth of resources are available for you to find your ancestors.

2: Investigate your local Genealogical or Historical Society.

With regular meetings, educational opportunities, newsletter, library, professional genealogists and expert amateurs, your local or regional genealogical society is chock-full of great free or inexpensive resources. Membership fees are very reasonable for the services you can access. As a member, you will also hear first of local genealogy conferences or special events, accelerating your learning about how to find out who your ancestors were.

3: Free Genealogy Newsletters on the Internet.

Free e-newsletters from genealogists or genealogy companies are excellent resources. As you look at an online genealogy site, search on it for a free newsletter. Examples may be found on Family Tree Magazine, ProGenealogists, Lost Cousins, World Vital Records, Ancestry, Legacy Family Tree, RootsMagic, and many more. Packed full of practical information on general or very specific topics, newsletters are great ways to learn about how to do genealogy research.

4: Message Boards online.

Are your ancestors from Canada, Germany, Ireland, Sweden, or other places? There is likely to be a Message Board somewhere on that country or region within the country. RootsWeb is one of the largest, with Surname boards, regional, historical, and other boards. Check them out, and click on the link that will explain how to make a great post if you find a perfect message board for your purposes. Look for other message boards in the regions of your ancestors’ past residences, there are so many online. Search for “message board and -topic-” to see if there is a message board on for example Ireland (at least 7). A long-lost cousin found me on a message board, so I tend to search them regularly for more information!

5: Surname Associations, Family Associations or Societies.

I have been very lucky to have 5 of my ancestor family lines with Family or Surname Associations with professional-level researched family trees I could use immediately, sources and all. What a great boon to my personal genealogy research! With history, documents, photos, maps and more, a surname group may be available for one or more of your ancestors or ancestor lines, available free or a very low membership cost. Search for “-a surname- and family association” and see what turns up online. I receive newsletters from several associations; another has updated information online and available with a membership. Excellent resources.

6: Free: Databases, Charts, Forms.

Much is free online these days, or available at your local library. The following Censuses are free to search and view: 1881 U.K., 1881 Canada, 1880 U.S. on most sites. In Canada, Automated Genealogy provides free access to search and view the censuses from 1851/1852, 1901, 1906, 1911. In the U.K., freeBMD will help you find your ancestors’ birth, marriage, death record so you can order a copy. Olive Tree Genealogy has free searching of ship passenger lists from the early 1600s. Library & Archives Canada provides free searching and viewing of many documents, records, censuses, and more.

Charts and forms are freely available to help keep organize your ancestors, your documents, your research history, your correspondence, and more. Check on any genealogy site for their Free Forms, or Getting Started items. Even government sites which provide any genealogy information will have some downloadable forms and charts for you to use. Check on Cyndi’s List to find any specific sites which provide free forms.

7: FamilySearch and Family History Centers.

The world’s largest database of genealogical records is available through the work of the Mormon Church, the Church of Latter-Day Saints (LDS) in Utah. From official records and registers around the world, to individually-submitted family trees, FamilySearch has many sources to help you. Remember to look for the proof or source of the details in every tree or individual as you search. In the Family History Center (FHC) in your community, there are more resources as well, such as free access to commercial databases, books, microfilms of commonly-searched records in specific countries. Staffed by knowledgeable and helpful volunteers, the FHC is an excellent resource for building your family tree.

8: Free Family Tree software.

To keep your family tree organized with details, photos, stories, proof/sources, and more, there are many software programs available. Two free versions are (a) the Standard version of Legacy Family Tree (a “Deluxe” version is US$29.95), or (b) the PAF software available from the FamilySearch site (right side of page). Commercial databases sometimes offer a family tree software program free with a one-year subscription; call and see what is possible. Check on Cyndi’s List for comparisons of software programs. Get started easily with a program which helps you do all the necessary steps to build your family tree.

These eight great resources should help any beginner in Genealogy keep to a budget while learning a great deal about researching their ancestors. Enjoy your searches.

Alberto Beto Perez is the creator of Zumba. Beto a native of Colombia (South America) is the founder of Zumba and director of the national Master trainers team. Beto Perez is also a celebrity choreographer and a Pro dancer. Having choreographed for Shakira and other celebrities. If you wondered what the word Zumba means, it means to move fast and have a lot of fun. His style of aerobics dance workout uses Latin inspired dance steps such as Salsa, Merengue, Flamenco and Samba. Recently hip hop and other exciting dances have been added to the dance mix.

Beto Perez created this Latin-based dance workout quite by accident, as the story goes one day as he rushed out of this house to teach his aerobics class he forgot his regular music tapes. As soon as he realized this, he grabbed some Latin music tapes that were in his car and began teaching the class to this music. The class exploded and became the most popular class in Colombia. He named this class “Rumbacize.”

Beto Perez arrived in Miami, Florida in 1999. There he met two young Colombian entrepreneurs who convinced him to change the name and to begin marketing his fitness philosophy throughout the world. By 2008 the small aerobic fitness company had well over 20,000 certified instructors and DVD sales in excess of 3 million.

(Recently Beto has added different music to the fitness workout, introducing a little bit of country music, funk rock ‘n roll and many other exciting beats.) However, he has also been adding additional products to the companies fitness line. Recently he launched a dance workout for individuals who are complete beginners, never having exercised much before; active older adults and individuals who are physically limited. He called this product Zumba Gold. In addition, another recent release is a product design for kids. With most young children not getting enough physical exercise this new product has received an overwhelming response. The new Zumba kids program is providing children with the ability to exercise and at the same time have fun.

The international market has not been neglected the company just recently opened up China and has representatives in over 40 different countries throughout the world. This Latin dance workout is taking over the world.

The company has aligned itself with Mark Burnett productions (of “Survivor” fame) and Emilio Estefan (husband of Gloria Estefan) to begin marketing the fitness dance products in the Hispanic market through television. But Mr. Burnett is not the only one in Hollywood to have noticed the incredible popularity of this Latin inspireddance workout. Many famous A-list Hollywood celebrities such as Ricky Martin, Eva LaRue (”C.S.I. Miami”), Vivica A. Fox (”Curb Your Enthusiasm”), Stacy Kiebler (”Dancing with the Stars”), Hunter Tylo (”The Bold & the Beautiful”), and former Miss Universe Dayanara Torres have “ditched the workout and joined the party” with ZUMBA. from a small boy in South America to an American success story once again Alberto Beto Perez has proven that the American dream is real. He is a true “rags to riches” success story!

Marathons have roots in ancient history, tracing their history back to the battles of ancient Greece. It is from here that we get one of the oldest athletic events, with a rich history and heritage that marathoners take pride in.

What is a Marathon?

The official length of long-distance foot races known as marathons is 42.195 kilometres. The history of marathons and the distance goes all the way back to ancient Greece. According to the legend of marathons, once the Greek had won the battle with the Persians, known as the Battle of Marathon, a runner named Pheidippides was sent to spread the news in Athens. Pheidippides is said to have arrived in Athens, reported the news and then died from exhaustion soon after.

The distance from the battleground to Athens was about 40 kilometres, which eventually evolved into the official distance for marathons of today. A number of authors have included the story of Pheidippides in several songs and poems, such as the works of Robert Browning. The poem composed by Browning was the inspiration of Michal Breal, who is the brains behind the organization of the 1896 Olympic Games. These games included a marathon.

In the marathons of today, a racecourse is set out by organizers to meet the required distance that was set in 1908 by the Olympic Games in London. According to the race, runners either begin all at the same time in one big massive start, separated by ability and gender, or sent out in waves.

The courses of marathons are typically left open for a specific length of time, generally for about four hours. Runners who do not complete the entire course are picked up and transported to the finish line. For marathons that are made up of a large group of inexperienced runners, the course is usually left open for a longer time so they are able to finish.

What is a Half Marathon?

Basically, a half marathon is half of a marathon run, which is often referred to as a mini-marathon. Half marathons are becoming more and more popular. Many times, people will take part in half marathons that are going on at the same time as full marathons. The difference between full marathons and half marathons is simple. A half marathon is about 21 kilometres in length.

It is easy to see why so many people are attracted to half marathons. These events do not require as much extensive training as full marathons. Often, several people get together to train for half marathons in groups in order to get ready for the 21K event. The majority of these races allow participants to register ahead of time, giving them time for sufficient training.

Popular Marathons

The most popular marathons around the world highlight the abilities of some of the world’s most skilled runners. In cities all around the world, runners come together to participate in these races.

Even though marathons are held all over the place, some marathons are better known than other races.

Some of the most popular marathons are:

The New York City Marathon – The New York City Marathon is the largest marathon in the world. More than two million people gather on the streets of New York City to watch this race. In addition, another three hundred plus million viewers join the fun by watching the television broadcast.

The London Marathon – The New York City Marathon was the inspiration for the London Marathon, which first took place in 1981. Even though twenty thousand runners applied to participate in the initial London Marathon, only around 7,700 or so were allowed to run in the race. The course has since changed, becoming flatter and faster.

The Berlin Marathon – The Berlin Marathon was first run in 1974 with only hundreds of participants. Now, the Berlin Marathon is the world’s second largest marathon. It is also known as one of the world’s fastest races as well.

The song Charlotte the Harlot probably started me listening to Iron Maiden more than just hearing them on the radio because (and I know this is mean) when I was at school back in the day there was a girl I knew called Charlotte and I used to call her Charlotte the Harlot because of knowing the song. This was really when I was a little kid of about 8 and I actually ended up having her as a girlfriend when I was about 14, so it all worked out ok in the end.

Iron Maiden are an English, Heavy Metal group formed in London in 1975 by Steve Harris and have had many band members over the years (too many to list). The more noted members being Dave Murray, Bruce Dickinson, Adrian Smith, Janick Gers, Nicko McBrain, Dennis Stratton and the current lineup is: Bruce Dickinson (lead vocals), Dave Murray (guitar), Adrian Smith (guitar, backing vocals), Janick Gers (guitar), Steve Harris (bass, backing vocals) and Nicko McBrain (drums). This lineup has stayed consistent since 1999.

Maiden are one of the most successful of all heavy metal bands and have sold over 100 million albums worldwide. The name Iron Maiden was taken from an old torture device of the same name and the band actually formed on Christmas Day 1975. The group went through many band changes over their first few years of gigging and it wasn’t until they signed to EMI in December 1979 that they started to record their work seriously. The self titled debut album Iron Maiden was released in 1980 and rose to #4 in it’s first week in the charts. The same year Iron Maiden went on tour of the UK and opened for Kiss and Judas Priest which helped to give them public notice.

Bruce Dickinson joined the band shortly after the second album release (Killers) and went straight out on another tour of the UK. The Number Of The Beast was released in 1982 and was Iron Maiden’s first #1 album in the UK and then they went on a massive global tour including Canada, US, Australia, Japan, Germany and UK. There was controversy in the US when a group of Christian activists held a record burning of Iron Maiden and Ozzy Osbourne albums as they claimed them to be Satanic. Shortly after the tour saw the release of the third album Piece Of Mind which was a massive success.

Iron Maiden then went on another huge tour called the World Slavery Tour and it consisted of 193 shows over 13 months and this is recorded as one of the biggest tours in musical history. The next few years saw Iron Maiden change the ways they made their music and the inspiration behind it. In 1986 Somewhere In Time was released and was based around the ideals of time travel and it was the first album to contain synthesized bass and guitar sounds which were used to add layers and textures to their sound. Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son was released in 1988 and was about a mythical child with magical abilities and also was the first album to contain keyboards and made it to #1 in the UK chart.

No Prayer For The Dying was released in 1990 and had huge success and the song Bring Your Daughter… To The Slaughter rose to give Iron Maiden their first #1 single in the UK. The song was recorded for the movie A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child. In 1992 Fear Of The Dark was released and was the first album to be recorded specifically for CD and was much longer than previous LP releases.

Bruce Dickinson left Iron Maiden in 1993 to pursue his own solo career but still performed a farewell tour and recorded two live albums (A Real Dead One which contained songs from 1975-1984 and A Real Live One which contained songs from 1986-1992).

The next album to come was The X Factor and was released in 1995 but didn’t receive as much success as their previous albums. Best Of The Beast was released in 1996 and was the first compilation album and only contained one new song (Virus). Virtual XI was released in 1998 and was even less successful than The X Factor.

In 1999 Bruce Dickinson returned to the band and in 2000 they released the album Brave New World and rocketed Iron Maiden back into the charts and the minds of the UK public. Maiden went on another massive world tour (over 100 dates) and ended at the Rock In Rio festival in Brazil in 2001. The band played to around 250,000 fans and the show was recorded and released as a live album (Rock In Rio).

Iron maiden have released several albums since (Dance Of Death, Death On The Road and A Matter Of Life And Death) and still continue to tour. Iron Maiden have influenced many bands and won the Ivor Novello Award for international achievement in 2002 and were also inducted into the Hollywood Rock Walk in 2005.

This article is about “Preaching chords in the key of c”, you can find here a huge variety of articles about “Preaching chords in the key of c”:

I must note that the kids who learn piano the best are those whose parents or family members also play piano or music of some kind. How can we ask our kids to try music/piano if we don’t include it in our own lives?

You don’t have to be Paderewski or Sting or Beethoven. You can love country or classical or rock or gospel or rap or pop or anything, but listen to it, sing it, let your kids know that you think music is great.

Before we go any further, let’s say it again. This our standard announcement:

Play piano, not practice. Say that to your kids. Go do it yourself, and then expect them to do the same.

Play piano, not practice.

You’d be surprised how many people forget the nugget o’ wisdom above.

I often say I’m like a sheep dog, watching the piano student and trying to see their process. I never care about my “method.” I care about the student’s perception of the method, which is their “process.”

The method, whatever it is, is useless unless appreciated by the student’s “process.” The practical result of the above is that I proceed incredibly slowly but persistently to include the concepts of sheet music after I have had the child play successfully at least two dozen songs by number.

This can take months or years, or weeks or days. It depends on the child. A nervous child makes a poor student. Set them at ease by lowering the bar imperceptibly until they are ready for more advancement. You are the gatekeeper to the mysteries of music.

It’s as if there were a secret door to each individual child’s perception of music, and all you have to do is sit there and guide them until they find that magic door themselves. You cannot force the moment wherein they perceive that they can play piano. It will come, and you can prepare them If you force reading sheet music before you have adequately prepared the child, you lose the child as a willing, excited student.

If you lose the child’s interest in piano (85% of kids who start using conventional methods later quit) it’s your fault, not theirs. Prepare them adequately, gently. It’s not easy to learn to read conventional sheet music. It takes time. Indeed, an exceptional, brilliant child may indeed learn the skills of reading music in several minutes or days. I know, because I was one of them (I was seven when I learned to read music.)

But what about the other 99.99% of kids? Should these average, even gifted kids, be denied the wonders of playing piano music because the skills necessary to read conventional sheet music weren’t immediately apparent to their particular current intellectual abilities? Set limits that the child can realize right away. Break down the elements until the child easily scales each carefully graduated step.

A Typical Lesson:

I teach 30 minute lessons for almost all kids. Here’s the log of a hypothetical but typical lesson with a child who has not yet started reading conventional music:

Minute 1-5: Is the child uneasy or happy? If they’re uneasy, haven’t “practiced” (I don’t use the word but countless parents do) I play number games and joke around and play TV themes or Rugrats or some silly pop or folk song or game until they calm down and see that I’m rather easy to please.

I’m not serious in demeanor in any way. I don’t really care if they have practiced, because it’s impossible to enforce: remember that the goal is to get kids excited enough that they go to the piano by themselves. The goal is not to get kids to play some song they don’t understand like a robot. The goal is to get kids to play piano under their own steam, without forcing them.

My secret goal with each child is to be somewhere in between a game show host and drill sergeant, but I start out all game show host. It grabs even the most unprepared child. Who would you rather perform for, Bob Barker (Price Is Right) or some snarling negative military presence? These are kids, folks.

Minute 5-10: Assuming this is later than a first lesson, I try several skills to see what has stuck since their last lesson. I try a few songs by number, praising all the way if the child uses one or many fingers, slow or fast. Any initial effort is applauded if you see their attitude is clear and calm.

Even the most humble effort has in it something worthy of praise, for example: a child who bumbles through a song like London Bridge but never loses their place has done something remarkable. Tell them about it. Tell them about how preachers and actors have to read from a book, too, and look up at people but not lose their place in the book. A child who has been rightfully praised is readier for the next task.

Never forget this: whatever level of skill the child shows you is where you will start this lesson. It’s pointless to berate or even chide a child for not having mastered a particular skill from the last lesson. I never ever let a child know they have disappointed me. Better to work with a positive attitude on that same skill again in this lesson, perhaps disguising the skill in a new way as a game.

Don’t expect anything and you’ll be pleasantly surprised with some tiny accomplishment. Take that tiny something and build on it. If you can’t build on that tiny accomplishment, go back to earlier skills.

Never let them know they are being demoted from an attempt at a new skill. If you can’t seem to get the next skill launched, just pull back the difficult activity like a magician and go back to something easier.

There’s never time lost in going back and cementing earlier skills. In fact I look for each skill to be almost automatic and offhand (finding keys, use both hands, flats and sharps) until I go onto another more complex skill.

Minute 10-20: This is the main work period of the lesson. They’re calm, they know it’s fun and fast and they aren’t being yelled at (but, rather, praised) and they know the lesson is almost over. Why not have fun and learn this piano stuff? As soon as they are comfortable, we work on a general level of competence, playing titled songs that they either know or have heard of.

What songs do they like, I ask. Let’s play them! I often only let them play a bit of a song, whisking it away from them just as I see them get tired and confused. As soon as you put another song in front of them, they are refreshed and try again. It’s better to play just a bit of 25 songs than one long song, painfully slowly, all the way through.

Kids learn the same principles from a variety of simple pieces as from a tightly limited repertoire. Variety is refreshing.

I play a game called “first line of the song” in which we zip through dozens of songs playing only the first line of the music, like a couple of greedy kids sampling chocolates. If a child is really wandering, we play “first note,” in which we whisk through dozens of songs, and they only have to play the first note. The process is the same, but the kids have fun and don’t feel overworked. They learn the same thing no matter how long the task: look at the page and then press the piano key.

Of course, other kids will demand to play all of certain songs, and then you sit back, help if needed, and be happy and praise them no matter how poorly they do. If they play poorly, don’t make them aware of it, but instead find the basic skill that eludes them.

I’ll say it again: never ever be negative. No matter how they do, it’s an honest effort and you’ll get much further if you take mental note of what skill they failed at and then attempt later to find a way to present it.

One of the great pleasures of teaching this way is making up the games that let the kids learn. Always break the skills down to the lowest possible level. Make it easy to please you and kids will never stop trying. Make it difficult to please you and only that .01% of genius kids will succeed.

One more thing: I bring new sheet music (conventional or numbers depending on the child) to each lesson. The kids come to expect it, and say, “What did you bring me?” Think about it: here are kids anticipating the new sheet music for the week, not a TV show or a junk food item. This anticipation of new sheet music can’t be bad for them, and is in fact a miracle that affects their attitude profoundly.

No kid wants to play the same songs over and over until they find that first song they can’t seem to stop playing. All kids seem to find at least one special song that they can play from memory. This song seems to be their way of saying, “See, I can play this great big piano all by myself!”

Some kids love Star Wars, other Twinkle, Twinkle, or The Wigwam Song (a staple of early kids piano books.) I’ve had parents come to me and say, “Can’t you make him play another song? He plays it all day!” I point out that when he’s good and ready he’ll move on, but for now you better sit down and listen to him play “that song” again, and praise him mightily.

If the child wanders at all during the minutes 10-20, we play a quick game to blow off steam, then dive right back in.

Minute 20-30: By now the lesson has produced whatever advancement will be possible. All you can do now is cement the sense that piano is fun and easy to do. Be aware that the last 5 minutes of the lesson are practically useless.

I always ask at 25 minutes, “How’s your brain doing? Getting tired?” If the honest answer is “Yes,” we play a fun number or chord game or two, maybe play a line of a couple of songs, and then I let them go perhaps a couple of minutes early. These kids come back every week willing to do anything to try to learn to play piano. If the kids don’t come back, you can’t teach them.If the child is not tired, then I still proceed the same, making the last 5 minutes rather relaxed and easy.

A Student Story:

I once had a pair of brothers that I taught who both had limited skills and interests regarding piano. Frankly, they could take it or leave it. I’d put them in the quitter category for sure if they were taught by the conventional method. Their mom wanted them to play piano and didn’t care if it took a decade (a very good attitude for a mom.) The younger brother was a handful, sometimes only going 15 minutes before he melted down and needed to do something else. You could go another 15 minutes, but I elected not to, stopping the lesson just about where he demonstrated that it was basically over.

Week after week this child came to the piano and bumbled his way through dozens of songs by number. Invariably I would say, at the end of a song or portion of a song, “Cool, let’s try this one!” I never ever expressed dismay at his efforts. I could see he was simply doing the best he could. Slowly we tried the transition from numbers to sheet music again and again. Each time seemed a failure, but I never let him know that. I tried all sorts of crazy stunts for this child who had such trouble paying attention.

One time I put a coal scuttle (a sort of black bucket used to empty ashes from a fireplace) over my head and used the little fireplace shovel as a microphone. I called out the names of chords that

I “Gortok” the spaceman needed to hear, and my little troublemaker responded with glee. I count about a dozen games that I use every day that originated with this child, and I thank him for it. He forced me to be extremely creative. And eventually it worked for him. Here’s how: After months and months he began to realize that I wasn’t going to stop trying sheet music.

So he gave in, inch by inch, and slowly was able to read the first dozen notes of the “right hand” of simple sheet music. I acted as if I didn’t care if he learned sheet music, always moving to another area as soon as he seemed to tire of trying to figure out new sheet music, always of the simplest kind. Finally we got to left hand, and after months of fun-filled battles he could figure out the essential dozen left hand notes kids have to learn to find on a piano.

After almost a year, this kid could play almost nothing from memory except the first ten notes of the theme to Star Wars (a performance I always applauded.)

One day his mom wanted to hear him read a piece of sheet music, so I opened a book of simple songs at random, as I always do, and said, “Play this, pal.” All of a sudden this kid plays both hands at once, perfectly. It was a simple piece, but what a surprise. I said, “I didn’t know you could play with both hands at the same time!” He looked up at mom, beamed, and said, “I been listening all along, mister!” with the charming lisp (”mithter”) of a kid missing his two front teeth!

The moral of the story is, here’s a kid who now loves to play the piano, who would have quit for sure with a less patient teacher, who now can read simple sheet music with no difficulty. The truth is, any kid can learn to read music. The hard part is finding an adult who is patient enough to sit with them until they figure it out.

This Issue’s Fun Game: FOURS

“Fours” is the most basic rhythm game that I play with kids. I always use it on the first lesson, and on all subsequent lessons until the child seems too old for it. It’s a fun but very childish game that teaches rhythm and piano geography without using printed notes or numbers of any kind. It’s important for kids to actually play the piano without the encumbrance of graphic notation (notes or numbers) of any kind.

For example, you’ll notice that kids in general can go to the piano and play three songs:

Chopsticks

Heart and Soul

Knuckles: A funny piece KIDS play on the black keys with the knuckles

“Fours” is a piano game constructed in exactly the same mold. The child plays numbers and I play the chords. If the symbols below don’t line up in your browser, remember that there are always four notes (numbers) for every chord (letter.)

FOURS

The child begins on “Middle C,” also known as the white piano key with the sticker numbered one:

CHILD: 1111 2222 3333 4444 5555 6666 7777 8888

TEACHER: C G C F C F C C

I play a kind of funny Chico Marx oom-pah accompaniment using the chord pattern (C G C F C F G C, etc.) Kids find this very easy and refreshing. We play up the piano keys, moving to the right, with the natural goal being for the child to reach the highest key on the piano. I’m pretty “strict,” that is, if the child breaks the rhythm or misses a key, we start over. Strangely enough, kids love to go back to the beginning and start over as much as they love going all the way to highest key.

Fun variant: Ask them to count up the white keys until they reach the highest white key (starting from Middle C, which to them is #1) and tell you what the “number” of that white key is (it’s 29.) This has no musical value except that it makes the child an explorer of the instrument.

The object of these games is to make the child a keen and enthusiastic observer of their instrument, something impossible to do when the child is locked into reading only sheet music from a book. Kids need to improvise, however humbly, and essentially all of my games are designed to make fun music outside of sheet music, numbers or conventional.

“Fours” teaches a child that:

Sheet music is not always necessary to have fun with music

They have to count while they play

Music is divided into numbered units

Piano is a fun thing they can do right away

And finally….I speak to and hear from so many people (almost all adults referring to their childhood experience with piano) who had their fingers or knuckles rapped by a piano teacher. Whatever idiot thought up this “negative” method deserves our ridicule. How can you expect kids to learn the equivalent of algebraic formula when the teacher’s main mode of expression is basically negative? Kids thrive on nurturing, creative and patient teachers.

Teachers who do stupid things like rapping knuckles expect more or less immediate results, and are always disappointed with the average child’s less than brilliant performance. Teachers need to remember to teach the kids, not the teacher’s method. Playing the piano is a great outlet for all kids, and no child should be denied the pleasure of making music at the piano because their abilities don’t meet the expectations of an impatient teacher.

A year spent preparing a child with numbers and games is a year very well spent if the child ends up fascinated with piano and music.

If you dont find these are right let us know the corrections via the comments.. cheers. Son of God by Starfield Tablature / Words. Capo 1st fret. G em. Son of God Shaper of the stars. C You alone The dweller of my heart. D Mighty King How beautiful You are. C … This song is played in the key of G, however, Tim Neufeld plays with the capo over the 5th fret, I think. On youtube, it looks like he plays in the key of G, but that wouldn’t make sense, if capoed at 5. …
