Look No Further Than Glenwood Springs for Your Next Vacation

Glenwood Springs (GWS), located just on the west side of the largest mountain range running through the middle of the state, has more to offer tourists and residents than most cities in the country, no questions asked. Regardless of what time of year you’re looking to take a trip with the family, friends, or special someone, you’re guaranteed to have a good time, and here’s why.

The history of Glenwood will forever remind us of the classic wild west way of life, originally established during the Colorado minding boom and packed full of saloons, brothels, gambling, and even a few legendary outlaws. Once of these men, Doc Holiday spent the end of his life in Glenwood Springs and is buried in the town’s original cemetery.

Over the years, the town’s edges softened and it has become more of a family destination than the Colorado “sin city” it once was. The beloved history of the town can still be enjoyed through the old Victorian architecture, museums, or just venturing into the wilderness and losing sight of modern civilization for an afternoon.

If you’re not into history, visit Glenwood Springs anyway! Maybe you love skiing, rafting, hiking, biking, hot springs, camping, art galleries or eating out. When it comes to skiing, you’re only a short drive to both the affordable Sunlight Mountain and Aspen Snowmass which has four incredible mountains accessible with one lift ticket. The town’s close proximity to these great mountains make it a perfect destination for skiing during the day and soaking in the famous Glenwood Hot Springs in the evening before enjoying a meal and some wine at one of Glenwood’s many fine restaurants.

That sounds like a pretty amazing getaway, but let’s break it down a bit. Hot Springs? If you’ve never been to one of the natural hot springs scattered across Colorado, they are pools filled with water which is naturally heated by the inner layers of the ground. Some are more man-made, which happens, to be the case with the Glenwood Springs Hot Springs, and some are 100% natural. These are also available nearby Glenwood Springs. Either way, there are few better ways to relax than to soak in some perfectly hot water in the middle of the most beautiful mountain you’ve ever seen.

If it’s rafting you’re after, Glenwood just so happens to be located at the confluence of two great rivers, the Colorado and its tributary the Roaring Fork. Not only is the Roaring Fork famous for its gold-medal fishing waters but, these two rivers provide excellent whitewater rafting adventures. It could be your very first time or you might be looking for class III rapids, it doesn’t matter. In GWS, there are a ton of different guides and outfitters that can help make your dreams of a Colorado rafting adventure a reality.

Now it’s time to pick a weekend or week and head towards GWS. Stay in the historic Hotel Denver or Hotel Colorado and sample some of the best Italian food you’ve ever had at the Italian Underground. Whatever you do, don’t forget to stop occasionally and look around at mind-blowing scenery.

Glenwood Springs, Colorado, on the way to Aspen, Colorado is a great Colorado vacation destination. Only 3 hours from Denver, Colorado, Glenwood Springs offers whitewater rafting and world class fishing in the summer, and snowboarding and skiing all winter. Regardless of the season, come hike, bike, camp and enjoy the outdoors in Glenwood Springs, Colorado.

This article is about “Homemade music instruments”, you can find here a huge variety of articles about “Homemade music instruments”:

Homemade musical instruments is a subject that can frustrate many people conducting searches on the internet looking to find out how to make instruments, because the vast majority of websites and videos on this topic are invariably skimpy little notes on how to put together things like butter bucket drums, paper plate tambourines and the whole shoebox/rubber band guitar thing for little kids to play with. This is just not what those of us interested in making instruments are starving for in the lines of information. We don’t want to make toy instruments from paper or cardboard, we want to be making quality music making machines with which we can jam out on with pride – anything less just won’t cut it. But in order to do this, we need to know some universal mathematical formulas. What might some of these be?

Well, a couple of them tend to come to mind when the subject of making homemade musical instruments arises, one of which is known as the “18 rule”. This is a means of finding precisely where to put frets on the neck of a guitar. The actual number is 17.8167942 – you measure the distance between the nut and the bridge, and divide that measurement by this number to get the distance between the nut and the first fret… then measure between that first fret and the bridge, dividing that by 17.8167942 again in order to get the distance between the first fret and the second, and so on. This kind of information is what we need when seeking to find out how to make homemade musical instruments. So what’s another necessary formula to use in order to make something jam-worthy?

How about this mathematical formula… this is good for tubular drums, or making woodwinds, but can also be used to apply to nearly anything remotely related in homemade musical instruments making – that is to say, any type of which that utilizes an enclosed column of air to create the sound in, and form the different notes. As anyone might surmise, when making musical instruments, it’s often good to know the length of a given note’s wavelength. The way this is done is simple enough – the speed of sound in inches per second (at sea level, and assuming an average ambient temperature of about 70 degrees F) is 13526.5 (for centimeters, divide by 2.54)… divide this by the frequency number of any note, say for instance, “A”, which is 440 Hertz. You’ll end up with a wavelength of about 30.74 inches long. Now the body of an open ended flute who’s fundamental note would be “A”, is roughly half of a wavelength long, so it would be around 15 3/8 inches long – more precise measurements would involve subtracting from this, 1/3 of the flute’s bore diameter. Closed end flutes such as pan flutes are half that. It’s formulas like these that are needed when making musical instruments, and there are as many others as there are designs.

If you’re going to San Francisco, forget the flowers in your hair. Take it from a local–these are the restaurants to try:

-Heading to the AT&T Ball Park for a Giants game? If your love southern and soul food, or are a Golden State Warriors fan, try Big Nate’s Barbeque: Former Golden State Warriors Nate Thurmond opened the popular Memphis-style barbeque joint in 1974. Carnivores say the oak-smoked ribs are addictive. Take out, eat in, or they deliver. For more info: bignatesbarbeque.com 1665 Folsom St, San Francisco, (415) 861-4242

Open Mon-Sat 11am-9:30pm; Sun 12pm-9:30pm

-For traditional San Francisco low-key power-dining to impress the boss, granddad, or potential in-laws, or if you are in the Financial District on business, don’t miss the nearly 160 year-old Tadich Grill. Opened in the Gold Rush days as a coffee stand, it’s the oldest restaurant in San Francisco. The dark wood walls, white linen and enclosed booths give it the feel of a men’s club. Try favorites: fried calamari, Dungeness crab cakes, sand dabs, cioppino, and creamed spinach is a favorite too. Arrive early because they don’t accept reservations. Located on the California cable car line at 40 California Street between Battery. 415/391-1849

-Swan Oyster Depot: This atmospheric spot on Polk Street has been a fixture since 1912. It’s casual and perfect if you’re walking all over the City. Hop on the California cable car line and get off at Polk and you’re there. Sit at the marble counter and dig into crab, oysters, sour dough bread and sauvignon blanc.

1517 Polk St. 415-673-1101

Mon-Sat 8am-5:30pm. Cash only.

-Molinari’s Delicatessen has been in North Beach since 1896 making quintessential take-out 5-star Italian sandwiches. NYC can’t beat this slice of Italy. 373 Columbus Ave (between Grant Ave & Vallejo St) 415-421-233 Open 9-5 except Sundays.

-The Absinthe Brasserie & Bar is located in the popular Hayes Valley neighborhood, near the Civic Center. It’s a popular choice for classic upscale French fare for lunch, dinner, or late-night café after the nearby symphony, ballet and opera. Brunch is served on Saturday and Sunday. The bar offers over 500 domestic and international wines, and Thursdays are their popular “Flight Nights” from 7-12M. Visiting hipsters, go here. 398 Hayes Street. Check it out: absinthe.com

-Farallon–If you and your sweetie are hitting the upscale shops in Union Square and want an equally impressive dining experience, Farallon is your fantasy spot. Named for our offshore islands, Farallon is one of the best and most beautiful restaurants in the country. For more information: farallonrestaurant.com

-Hog Island Oyster Farm. Just above San Francisco in the Tomales Bay is a vibrant oyster community and the famous Hog Island Oyster Farm. This is their bay view eatery in The City located in the historic Ferry Building a short walk from Pier 39. Lively, fun, a place to take the kids. Check out the website for information on the beach picnics at their farm at Point Reyes north of The City. hogislandoysters.com

-The French Laundry. An hour above The City in Yountville, in Napa Valley, is one of the ultimate restaurants in the world. Reservations are required as far as two months in advance. A favorite choice of the Napa Valley honchos and visiting celebrities from around the world. Dinner is served 7 nights a week, lunch on Friday-Sunday. 707-944-2380.

This article is about “What are some instruments that elvis played”, you can find here a huge variety of articles about “What are some instruments that elvis played”:

The Elvis Presley comeback special was the top-rated television special of 1968, and most experts and fans agree it not only revitalized his career, it sealed his destiny as becoming a larger-than-life, almost mythical performer for the entire world. But there’s a great story behind the Elvis Presley comeback.

When talk of the comeback special in Elvis’ camp surfaced, he confessed he was nervous about playing live; after all, he hadn’t played a live concert in 7 years since he played in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, on March 25, 1961! However, a short while after rehearsals began for the show a more confident Elvis Presley told his producer Bob Finkel he wanted to show the world what he could do.

And do, he did! The Elvis Presley Comeback Special was filmed over the course of five hours on June 27, 1968 in front of two separate audiences at NBC Burbank Studios, with a one hour break in between so Elvis could shower and have his black leather suit designed by Bill Belew dry cleaned.

Originally, Elvis’ manager Colonel Tom Parker wanted the show to be a Christmas special complete with Christmas carols, but the chosen director, Steve Binder, saw this as an opportunity to re-establish Elvis Presley’s dwindling career. Steve Binder’s visionary personality played a large role in Elvis Presley’s ultimate success!

On December 3, 1968 the Elvis Presley Comeback Special aired, it became an amazing success, and it went down as one of the top moments in entertainment television history. Soon after, the slim Elvis Presley was in high demand and on his way to his legendary Las Vegas performances. He spent most of the next eight years on the road with his band. Some experts say the Elvis Presley Comeback Special revived his career in 1968, but that ironically, it also marked the beginning of the end of his life. Elvis died doing what he loved and he knew his fans loved him. Days before he passed away he said he was looking forward to to his greatest concert tour ever.

For many Elvis Presley fans, one of the most memorable moments deeply etched in their minds is watching a slim, incredibly handsome man walk onto the stage in 1968 wearing that famous black leather suit, and giving his fans “his all” as he had always done.

Tonsilitis is more common in poorer socio-economic groups, where chances for cross infection are high.

Clinical features
Symptoms start with sore throat, pain over the region of the tonsils, high fever, and dysphagia. Examination of the throat with a tongue depressor reveals enlarged, red tonsils covered with yellowish pus in the crypts on one or both sides. The exudates can be easily removed by a swab and the underlying mucosa does not bleed. Tonsillar and adjoining lymph nodes are moderately enlarged and tender. There is moderate neutrophil leukocytosis. Even if untreated, the acute symptoms and the tonsilar inflammation partially subside in 7-10 days, but in many the streptococci persist within the crypts and give rise to recurrence of symptoms over several years. This is referred to as “chronic tonsillitis”

Complications
Acute tonsillitis may lead to several complications.
1. Extension of infection due to contiguity Pharyngitis, laryngitis, tracheobronchitis, Eustachian catarrh and suppurative otitis media.
2. Systemic spread of infection Septicemia, pyemia.
3. Local complications Chronic tonsillitis, peritonsillar abscess.
4. Immunological complications Rheumatic fever, glomerulonephritis and rarely allergic purpura.

In India and other neighboring countries, acute streptococcal tonsillitis is the most common cause of rheumatic fever.

Diagnosis
Acute tonsillitis should be clinically diagnosed from the characteristic appearance of the tonsils, acute febrile onset, and neutrophil leukocytosis, The organism can be isolated by culture of the pus taken before exhibiting antibiotics. Acute tonsillitis has to be differentiated from faucial diphtheria in children who have not been immunized. Diphtheritic membrane is grayish white and adherent. It tends to extend beyond the tonsils. Lymphadenopathy is considerably more marked, but the fever is milder. In all cases Gram-stain of the smear and culture should be done. In neutropenic conditions necrotic ulceration of the throat may develop and this has to be kept in mind in all severe cases.

Treatment
The patient is put to rest. Aspirin relieves the pain and fever. Drug of choice is penicillin. Crystalline penicillin G sodium is given in an intramuscular does of 0.5 mega units 8 hours. Once this acute symptoms subside, procaine penicillin may be substituted in a dose of 0.5 meg units daily intramuscularly. In children, if injections are to be avoided, erythromycin, ampicillin or cotrimoxazole may be given in appropriate doses. It is important to administer the full course of treatment and repeat to ensure that the organisms are eradicated. The recurrent exacerbations of tonsillitis (more than four times in one year), occurring as a complication of chronic tonsillitis may warrant tonsillectomy if medical treatment is ineffective. Tonsillectomy has also to be considered if chronic tonsillitis is complicate by otitis media.

Lots of article directories make their money off of AdSense, why should you give them your keyword rich AdSense optimized content? Put articles that would be smart priced on the article sites that don’t give you a cut and put keyword targeted articles on sites that do.

7. Fluff articles don’t require you to quote other sources. In order to write a true informational article you have to quote from other sources. Some article directories have a limit on how many lines of quotation you can provide. Fluff articles don’t require any quotation marks as you’re pretty much just making it all up based on theory!

6. Everyone else is doing it! If everyone else is doing it then it’s gotta be pretty fun. I consider this article fluff and I’m having a blast! Lots of mainstream blogs include a lot of fluff. One of the reasons to submit an article to an article directory is in hopes of getting picked up, if you submit a fluff piece that’s one more site you can get picked up on!

5. Quantity can be an advantage. Some sites list authors based on how many articles they’ve submitted and some sites list recent articles. Churning out multiple fluff pieces can help you in both those areas.

4. Fluff pieces can generate new connections you hadn’t thought of before. There’s a term called writer’s block. The way to get past writers block is to start writing. Writing some fluff can generate some ideas for you to write quality content!

3. Fluff pieces can be fun and humorous to read. Sometimes people don’t like reading rich, informative content. Sometimes they just want theoretical fluff or a good laugh.

2. If you set a target list for your fluff articles such as Top Ten areas to… then you’ll have to stretch pretty far to fill in those last few answers. You give your brain a bit of a mental workout(hint that’s what’s occurring now). Always try to cross new boundaries with your fluff. If you come up with part of your fluff easily always try to squeeze out a little bit more. That’s where the mental growth happens.

1. Become a cloud. Clouds generate rain, look like cool things, and are fun to draw. Start your fluffification today and take the first step towards being a cloud!

People say that clouds look like a lot of things but to me, most importantly, they look like they’re having fun and that’s what you should consider most when writing your next online article.

This article is about “Piano notes for all my life by n force”, you can find here a huge variety of articles about “Piano notes for all my life by n force”:

Whether you are a new piano player or a full-time professional, exams can be a strenuous and often daunting task. Each exam has its separate challenges. However, if you prepare for your exams correctly, it could mean the difference between passing and failing.

For this example, let us pretend that we are sitting for a Grade Six piano exam. Let the record denote that I have sat and passed a Grade Six exam. Although admittedly I did not pass it well – this was caused by a severe lack of preparation leading up to the exam. I did not put the time or effort into my preparation for this music exam. I can assure you from first hand experience that you need more than 15 minutes practice three to four times a week to effectively prepare for a Grade Six piano exam!

THREE MONTHS BEFORE THE EXAM

At this time you should be doing approximately one hour’s worth of practice a day, five days a week. In your selected pieces you should be able to at least press all of the right notes. This is the time to start developing your pieces from a series of notes to a piano masterpiece. Concentrate on things like expression, dynamics and tempo. Put some feelings and emotion into your pieces.

You should also profusely study all of your theory and scales. Too often scales and theory are neglected at this time and are only revised about a fortnight before the exam. This is a terrible mistake! Remember the more you study now, the more you will retain this information, thus having a better chance of recalling the required knowledge during your exam.

ONE MONTH BEFORE THE EXAM

It is time to up the anti a bit. You should be spending one and a half to two hours practicing a day, six days a week. This is the time to smooth out all of the minor flaws in your pieces of music. Practice things like getting that tricky triplet sounding fluent and making sure you hit the F sharp with your fourth finger rather than the fifth. These issues might seem minor, but it will help you immensely with your exam.

Practice without the sheet music in front of you and see how well you go. During your exam if you rely too heavily on your score, I can guarantee you will stuff up. Learn your music off by heart.

Also, make sure that your exam becomes your number one priority. Do not be distracted by other issues in your life. Do not become distracted by relationship, financial or other issues that might divert your attention from your exam. You will become stressed and worn out, and you will not perform at your potential.

ONE WEEK BEFORE YOUR EXAM

Now is the time to just practice, practice, practice! I would recommend doing between two to three hours per day by now. You should have all of the knowledge required for the exam. It is simply a matter of revising it for your exam.

Whilst we are working and studying hard, we have to remain relaxed. Put it into perspective; it is only an exam. There is no need to worry about it 24/7.

DAY BEFORE YOUR EXAM

Most people on the night before an exam practice for 5-6 hours, studying until some ungodly hour in the morning. This is a big no-no! At maximum you should only play through your pieces once. What I like to do is pretend I am actually sitting for the exam. So I would do my scales first, then my pieces in order, and then do some sight reading.

Don’t try to do any last minute revision for your exam. Chances are that you will only put unneeded pressure on yourself and more importantly you will only have a small chance to remember it for your exam. Do not get distracted by other things in your life. Your piano exam is tomorrow – everything else can wait another day.

Relax! It is essential that you get a good night’s sleep. I would recommend that you get 8 to 10 hours solid sleep if you can afford the luxury.

MORNING BEFORE YOUR EXAM

Do not do any work, whether it is piano related or not. Do something fun that doesn’t require a lot of brain power. Watch a movie. Kick a soccer ball. Do whatever that suits you.

Try to eat a healthy breakfast. However, if you suffer from butterflies in the stomach, which I suffer from immensely, don’t try to force anything down. It will only comes straight back up! (Trust me!)

I will say it again, RELAX! Try not to think about your exam. Don’t try to think about your theory, scales, pieces, fingering etc. etc. Don’t think about what you have and haven’t done for your exam. This is only going to get you all frazzled and this will seriously hinder your exam.

30 MINUTES BEFORE THE EXAM

By now you should be at the venue where your exam is being held. Do some ultra-light revision. Look through your music sheets and visualize yourself playing it as you read the notes. Play some ‘air-piano.’ Test yourself with a couple of theory questions.

Do not under any circumstances talk to other people about the exam. Do not ask each other theory questions. Do not discuss your pieces. Do not talk about previous exams or examiners. This is nothing more than an unwanted hindrance. Take a few deep breaths, relax and focus on your exam.

5 MINUTES BEFORE THE EXAM

Close the books for a moment. Take three deep breaths and focus. Think to yourself that this is just like any other piano practice session. Go into the exam with positive thoughts. Whether you have prepared yourself for the exam as I have discussed above or not, it does not matter now. All you can do now is concentrate on the upcoming task of your exam.

DURING THE EXAM

Two things will be happening to you about now. Firstly, you think you are doing well. Great! Ride on this wave of euphoria until the end of the exam. But you must not slack off! You still have a couple of pieces or a couple of scales or some theory to do. You must concentrate until the end of the exam. A lot can happen between now and then.

The second thing that could be happening to you during your piano exam is that you think you are performing badly. Forget about it! It doesn’t matter what has happened. You still have the rest of the exam to impress the examiner. A lot can change between now and the end of the exam.

Another point worth thinking about is just because you think that you have done a bad job, doesn’t mean that the examiner knows you’ve done a bad job. He/She will not pick up every single mistake you make. Just forget what has happened, clear your mind and start again with your next task. Think about what is going to happen, not what has just happened.

AFTER THE EXAM

Congratulations! You have completed your exam! You can now breathe a huge sigh of relief! It’s finally over!

Carefully analyse your exam. What did you do well? What do you do badly? What could you have done to improve? Make notes so you can use them as a reference for future exams.

Be careful not to be too confident with your exam. You might be disappointed when you see your results. Conversely, do not be too negative with your exam and think that you have done badly. More often than not you will get a nice surprise!

RECEIVING YOUR RESULTS

After waiting one to two weeks for your results to come back, you would be naturally excited, or at least inquisitive to see your results. Have you done well and/or better than you expected? Have you done worse than you have thought? Either way, read your examiner’s comments at least three times. See what they liked about your piano examination and what they didn’t. No matter how well you did, you can always improve! Next year’s exams are guaranteed to be harder than this year.

Take the assessor’s comments on board, but also take your own thoughts on board. Was your preparation leading up to the exam as good as it could have been? Nine times out of ten, if you have done badly you generally know why. Think about why you did badly and improve! Learn from your mistakes. Do not get depressed! It is not the end of the world. There is always next year.

I hope this article was helpful for your preparations for your exam. This is what I personally do when preparing for a piano exam. Obviously, if you have your own routine that works, by all means stick to it. However, if you do pick up one piece of advice from this article and apply it successfully, I will consider this article a success. Good Luck for your exams and most importantly, remember you can only do your best.

This article is about “Funbrain for 4th grade”, you can find here a huge variety of articles about “Funbrain for 4th grade”:

My father read books, newspapers, and magazines every day. He even read while he watched TV–and multi-tasking hadn’t been invented yet. I adored my Father and wanted to be like him. So I taught myself how to read before I ever marched off to kindergarten. (I’m not, however, recommending that children learn to read before they go to school.)

My parents talked about reading and sometimes connected reading to making plans. For example, my Mother might say, “I read in the paper this morning that the school board voted for a longer winter vacation. So what should we do with those extra days? Maybe you could go ice skating one day.” Or they asked questions: “What’d you like best about that dog book you just finished?”

In short, we lived in a reading environment. Everyone, including grandparents who didn’t graduate from high school, read at least one newspaper and a magazine or two. People had bookcases with books in them instead of shelves filled with photos and trinkets. Everyone used the word “read” in daily conversation.

Then TV took over. Computers evolved from a reading media to a visual media. All things digital and electronic captured our imaginations. Newspaper and magazine subscriptions declined. Video rules.

Yet even though many of us don’t read much, we still believe reading is an essential skill that children must master. We need to model reading to our children. Since children learn from what we do, reading ourselves shows them we think it’s important.

Try these seven simple solutions with your children to promote reading:

- Read yourself. Buy a magazine at the grocery store. Get a book about a favorite hobby. Talk about reading. If you love to save photos, you could say : “Oh, I just read the coolest article in my magazine about collecting family pictures.” Leave magazines and books out so your kids see them.

- Insist on reading directions and recipes. “Before we start baking cookies, we need to read the recipe.”

- Read stories to your kids. Not just to preschoolers but to 4th and 5th graders too. Read something to them every night before bed. Research has shown that reading aloud to children helps them read. A study by the U.S. Dept. of Education shows that children who are read to are almost twice as likely to score in the top 25 percent in standardized reading tests.

- Get books for your kids that are tied to their interests. My grandson, a 4th grader at the time, hated to read. He loves football. We found a football book at his grade level. He read it. And he enjoyed it. For sports, look for books by Matt Christopher. 3 rd and 4th grade girls love the Juni B. Jones series by Barbara Parks. By 5th grade, girls and boys enjoy the Lemony Snicket series by Brett Helquist. Encourage children to tell you about what they’ve read. Take an interest in their books.

- Take the kids to the library or the bookstore for fun. Buy a book for yourself. Or check one out at the library. Let your children see that you like books.

- Assume your children can read and ask them to do it. Let them know that reading is an everyday activity. Ask them to read the directions for putting up the new shelf in the garage. Ask them to read aloud what’s listed in the TV schedule for 7:00 pm so you can pick a favorite show.

- Better yet, turn off the TV. And while you’re at it, put the video games out of reach.

Just read! It’s more incentive for your kids to see you reading than nagging them to read. Certainly many of the brain-based learning programs often used in schools such as Brain Gym do help kids master reading. But that’s not enough. Start today to create a reading environment at your house.
