While its hardly fair to describe the girls in Pattaya as being unique in that they are mostly Thai girls, it can be fairly said that there is a uniqueness about them that is challenging to define.

To truly get a handle on what the girls in Pattaya are really about, its necessary to carry out some research into the background and culture of these delectable creatures to fully comprehend why they do the things they do, and to be able to deal with the oft  times tragic and other times hilarious behavior they often display.

If you are new to or are planning your first trip to Thailand, be well advised to do bit of digging around for at least some information on the girls in Pattaya and in Thailand overall before you take the plunge.

My memory takes me back to my first trip to Thailand ten years ago, as an incompetent, bumbling and extremely naïve “Pattaya Virgin.”

I was the typical middle aged “farang” (foreigner) who was just surfacing after a particularly harrowing and debilitating break up with my western wife of fifteen years. I guess I was seeking some sort of consolation and understanding in the arms of whoever was willing to listen.

While there are many of the girls in Pattaya who are more than capable of providing me with what I sought, my lack of education about these beautiful and at times little she demons, almost had me plunging headlong back into the murky pit of despair I was trying so hard to climb out of.

Fortunately I was traveling with a couple of “Pattaya Wise” friends who were well versed in the wiles of the bar girls in Pattaya and who were just able to grab my heels in time before I started falling hopelessly in love with almost every bar girl in Pattaya my hungry, ogling  and somewhat lustful gaze fell upon.

Before venturing into Thailand it’s imperative to be aware that Thailand is a nation whose culture is vastly different from that of the West. It is for ninety percent of the populace, steeped in Tao Buddhism and many things we of the west might consider strange or abhorrent are not only accepted in Thailand but are indeed the norm.

It’s also important to remember that the lives led by the bar girls in Pattaya are a far cry from the ideals set down by  traditional Thai culture and are far more strict than those of Christianity.

The girls in Pattaya live their lives almost totally absorbed in their culture and traditional family values. Buddhism to them is not a religion, but rather a way of life. However it’s not uncommon for a girl to bend the rules a little in the contant battle to survive within a society lacking in any from of social security hand outs such as welfare and the dole etc.

With this in mind, and while not considering herself a lady of ill repute, it’s quite acceptable for a girl in Pattaya to “go with” the patrons of the bar she works in for a limited period (short time) or for the night (long time) for a bout of sensual and sexual pleasure found hard to rival worldwide in an effort to make enough money to support her family. The majority of the girls are well experienced in satisfying the needs of the customer and those that are only new to the game are quickly instructed by the other more senior girls or the Mama San who is herself usually one of the ex-bar girls in Pattaya.

With prostitution being strictly prohibited in Thailand the “donation” made to the bar girls in Pattaya, is usually  predetermined before leaving the place of her employment. Most of the girls are fiercely loyal to “their” bar (while the money is there) treating it and her fellow bar girls in Pattaya more like family and a home away from home rather than a place of employment.

The “customer” she goes with will need to pay the bar what’s known as a “bar fine” which is a small pre-set figure for the individual bar…before leaving with his new found love. Go-go bars have a higher bar fine because they themselves tend to pay the girls more to perform pole dancing “etc”. on a raised platform, most times scantily dressed if indeed dressed at all.

This money pays for her freedom from the bar for the duration of the customer’s whim. You should be aware also, that if you should require the company of your bar girl/girls in Pattaya, for an additional night or two, you will need to pay the bar fine for each night she is absent from the bar. This is strictly adhered to. If she herself requires an evening off for no legitimate reason, she will then need to pay her own bar fine as she will also have to do if you refuse to pay it.

The number of bar fines for the working month is recorded for each individual bar girl in Pattaya and are tallied up at the end of the working month. She then receives a small percentage of the total. It’s not uncommon for a particularly attractive or alluring girl to amass as many as 25 to 30 bar fines for the month during the high season.

It should be noted here that tips are a communal thing and that unless the tip is placed directly in the hand of the girl it’s intended for, the tips are shared by all the girls in the bar sometimes including the mama san.

You shouldn’t be at all surprised to learn that the bar girl in Pattaya of your dreams could well have at least one child to a Thai man and indeed many even have a Thai husband or boyfriend waiting for them at home.

Traditionally in Thailand it is the responsibility of the girls of the family to support their parents. The girls in Pattaya’s parents will in most cases live somewhere in a remote village where more often than not, they will be raising the girls child or children. At the end of each month, she will send most of her money to her parents who in turn will pay for the child’s or children’s upbringing and education.

While it’s very easy to fall hopelessly in love with the girls in Pattaya, most men who do…find it far easier to take the girl out of the bar than  to take the bar out of the girl.

Many men who take a Thai girl out of Thailand find the same principle applies and research indicates that the most successful relationships that exist between the girls in Pattaya or in Thailand generally, and foreigners are the ones where the foreigner lives in Thailand with his Thai wife or partner.

Here are two different ways to play the F chord without having to make a bar (or barre). Most guitar learners have trouble with the F chord when they come across it. The bar across the first fret is very difficult to make without first developing good technique and finger strength.

But the F chord doesn’t have to be so hard when you know that there are different ways to play the F chord. In the rest of this lesson you will learn two fingerings to play the F chord without making a bar.

Firstly you are going to learn a simple three finger position to play notes from the F bar chord at fret one. Then we’ll have a look at another F chord fingering based on the simple open D chord you can use a little higher up the neck.

F Chord 3 Finger Version

The first way to play an F chord without making the bar is to play only the three notes shown in the diagram below.

It can take a little practice to place your fingers across three frets like this, but until your fingers are stronger it’s less of a struggle than making a bar.

Here’s a little trick you can use to get a good sound. Lean your index finger down towards the bottom string so that you touch the first string with the side of the finger tip. This muffles the first string so it doesn’t ring out when you strum. If you sound the first string E note then you’ll end up playing an Fmaj7 chord instead.

You can also play the F chord a little further up the neck using the familiar D chord shape shown below.

You may have learned this fingering at the second fret to form a D major chord. But you can also move it up three frets to the fifth fret and it becomes an F chord. Check the notes on the third, second and first strings: C, F, A – the fifth, root, and third of the F major chord.

Note that the open fourth string remains a D when you move this fingering up the neck so you should avoid picking this string when you play the F chord.

You can optionally play the F root note in the bass at the 3rd fret. To do this use the fingering shown below – it takes quite a stretch so you might need some time to make it. Start by learning to make the basic three finger shape using the second, third and fourth fingers of your fretting hand. When you can do this easily then you can try to add the root note with the first finger.

Easy conversations—talk about the class, your dreams, what you’re doing here, etc. There are many other advantages, as well, but I think you can see how classes are a great way to find a girl. The best ones are those that only last 5-10 weeks—that way if you do go out with a classmate and things go sour, you won’t have to see her for long afterwards!

Through friends and family. In a “Sex in America” study, it was found that roughly two-thirds of the marrying couples met through mutual friends, coworkers, or family members. Never underestimate the value of using your friends, family, and even work acquaintances and classmates to find you a special someone. The best example I can think of is my good friend Rick, who met his wife through mutual friends. The two have been madly in love for 6 years and married for just over one year, and itÂ’s still going great. Clearly there is value in using your “human resources” to find a girlfriend, or even wife.

Random places. As you know from my blog on Expectations, often the best relationships are created when youÂ’re not looking. For example, on a night when I wasnÂ’t even on the prowl, I met a girl I would date for two years while waiting for the NYC subway! And I met another girlfriend on a bus in Australia. You may only meet her for five minutes, but big things can happen from small moments. Life is crazy, so embrace the unpredictability of it all!

This should help all of you out there wanting to know how and where to meet more women. Good luck, and remember: the less you look, the more you find! Go to one of these places relaxed and not desperate, and you may not even have to look. Your dream girl might just come and find YOU.

Many people have heard of pick up artists – they are the guys that can just walk into a bar or club and within just a few minutes have a woman hanging on his every word. Now we all would love to have this ability and we can. If you follow some simple steps and with a lot of practice you will be able to walk into any situation and start getting the attention you desire from the ladies.

Several years ago I knew a guy that was in all senses of the word a pick up artist. I went to the local bar with him a few times and just watched what he did. The first thing I noticed was his attitude. He did not give the women the impression he was fully interested in them and gave them the sense of mystery that peeked their interest in him. One of the things he would do is not really answer their questions or just turn their question around back on them. Another thing I learned by watching him was he didn’t ask permission he would just say for example come on let’s dance as he dragged them out onto the dance floor.

I learned over the years that another problem that a lot of men, me included, would stand there with their hands in their pockets looking bored. Pick up artists make sure they don’t look bored and enjoy the atmosphere in the club or bar. Women notice what they are doing long before the Pick up artist would make his move. One key thing that you will have to remember when working on being a pick up artist is you have to have the right mindset, confidence, confidence, confidence. Women pick up on the signals that a confident man expresses.

I asked my friend one evening how he got so good at his game, and he told me what every other guy I have talked to on this subject has told me, practice. I have been told to expect to be rejected several times until I got my game down and that was true. There is no perfect formula to picking up women so all that can be done is the old tried and true method of trial and error. No guy has ever woke up one morning and was immediately a pick up artist they all started somewhere. So don’t get discouraged when you try and fail, just pick yourself up, dust yourself off and move on to the next girl. There will come a time when you find what works for you and start picking up girls like the pros do.

Now the mindset is just one part of the pick up artist arsenal of tools, there is also the look. You don’t go into a bar or club looking for a woman, dressed like you just got off of work. You will want to look your best and smell great. Nothing will turn a woman off faster than body odor. Looking good along with the right mindset can achieve so many things. You will be surprised if you do the right things and be confident in yourself that in no time at all you can be a pick up artist and other guys will be turning to you for tips and ideas on how they can improve their game.

When you first realize how much material is being tested on the state sections of the bar exam, you will be overwhelmed. Depending on how you count, the New York Bar Exam has eleven subjects, the California Bar Exam has at least five major subjects, and the Virginia Bar Exam has a whopping twenty plus. The sheer volume of the state materials is frightening, which is compounded by the fact that the state law is entirely new to many of the bar exam takers.

The best way to get past this overwhelm, and to really start concentrating on learning the law, is to very rapidly become familiar enough with the material that you lose all feelings of panic and overwhelm. You need a healthy and realistic view of the bar exam that leads to serious studying but panic and overwhelm are utterly useless emotions that lead to procrastination and fake studying, i.e., going through the motions of studying without actually learning.

With these points in mind, I offer the following method for quickly becoming familiar with the state materials. It only takes a few hours of your study time to implement this method, so you really have nothing to lose by trying it.

First, get a good set of outlines that hit a medium point between a quick attack outline of a page or two and a monster outline with every detail. Generally, a good outline for a state subject should be 10 to 30 pages long in small print.

Second, if you have downloaded outlines off of the internet or borrowed outlines from a friend, put all your outlines in front of you and make sure your materials match what will be tested on the state bar exam. Google the official information page for your state bar exam and check your outlines. You do not need to waste time on a subject that is not being tested.

Third, purchase three highlighters in three different colors. Pick up the first outline and take a look at how it is organized, how the headings are set up, etc. Go through and highlight the top level headings in one color, the second level headings in another color, and the third level headings in another color. Do this with all of your outlines.

Fourth, make quick mini-outlines of all your outlines with the first, second and third level headings. This should not take too long; just write it out if that is quicker than sitting down at the computer.

Fifth, move away from your usual study area and find your TV chair or other relaxing spot. Take out your mini-outlines and look them over in a relaxed way. Count the headings and sub-headings. Arrange them by length and alphabetically. If you are taking a review course, look over your syllabus and put your mini-outlines in the order they will be covered in class. See what rings a bell from law school and what seems totally new. Ask yourself questions: Which subject looks easy? Which one looks hard? What could that new term mean? Why are there eight subheadings about something called section 2003 FGRPN? Just get comfortable with the material!

Sixth and last, do a rapid read through of the longer outlines. Get a timer and give yourself about thirty seconds per page. Use a pencil to mark sections that seems confusing or interesting. Mark areas that will probably require sheer memorization. Basically, mark the outlines in a way that makes sense to you. You are doing this with an eye towards familiarity, not toward actually getting the subject down pat, so do not stress about actually learning anything at this point.

It should take no more than a few hours to do all of the above, but the pay-off will be enormous. Familiarly is a key concept in learning.
