This article is about “Write a joke using quotation marks”, you can find here a huge variety of articles about “Write a joke using quotation marks”:

Don’t let dialogue and punctuation marks outsmart you in creative fiction writing.

Dialogue between characters is one great way to engage in character development. Usage of quotes can become very complicated in your characters’ dialogue, but you don’t have to struggle with how to use quotes along with commas, periods, capitalization, the em dash, the ellipses, and other marks. Use the templates below for models on how to use quotation marks, and you will be a whiz at this in no time.

Your word processing program will probably use smart quotes. The quote marks curl toward the words. You may set your word processor to use straight quotes if you prefer. Be sure you are consistent and always use one or the other throughout your entire writing.

1. Using the ellipses to show the thought trails off, when the sentence is incomplete:

End with a blank, then the three dots, the quote, a blank.

“I, I, I . . .” he stuttered.

A non-quote new sentence follows: Capitalize the new sentence.

“Still she’s reckless, and that temper of hers . . .” Not to mention the prickly pride.

A new paragraph follows:

“I don’t know what to say, Aramis. They’re your best friends, not my best friends. I’ve no right to tell them. But maybe . . .”

2. Using the ellipses within quotes when the sentence is complete:

A new sentence, within the same quote follows. Note there is a period before the three dots.

“He has my father’s signet ring, and Papa never let that out of his possession. . . . They murdered my father in Belgium.”

The quote sentence is complete and is followed by a new non-quote sentence:

“And Uncle Porthos even took me on his horse. . . .” Suddenly, the boy stopped as if realizing he had a crowd.

3. Quote starts the sentence; the “he said” is in the middle, and then the quote continues:

Don’t capitalize the continued sentence.

“My father’s out of the country,” she began in a measured tone, “and a lone woman could hardly welcome a group of strange men to her home.”

4. Quote starts the sentence, ends with a comma and quote and blank and the “he said.”:

Do not capitalize the word after the closing quote unless it is a proper name or the word “I.”

“He will see you now,” the servant said, bowing as Athos thanked him.

Quote ends with a question mark and is followed by the “he said:”

Don’t capitalize the “he said” part.

“Do we have an agreement?” the unofficial leader of the group asked.

5. Quote starts in the middle of the sentence:

Put a comma after the leading “he said.” Have one blank, then the quotation mark, then the first word of the quote capitalized.

He shrugged his shoulders and said, “It was just a possible explanation. I know it’s not a very good one.”

6. Use the em dash to show a pause in the quote that is all one sentence:

Use no spaces before or after the dash.

“You know what I really wish? I really wish you could find it in your heart to trust me–to not always play the gentleman. However, it’d be more than enough if you just decided to be your real self.”

Use the em dash to show one sentence trails off and then a new sentence begins:

Capitalize the new sentence. Use one space after the closing quote.

“Yes, but–” She silenced him with a kiss.

“I think so, but–On second thought, it’s not true,” he said.

This article is about “All my life piano numbers”, you can find here a huge variety of articles about “All my life piano numbers”:

You can be free from so many musical rules while playing improvisation.

I have started learning piano at the age of 17. Do you remember how you were when you were seventeen? You guessed right! I wanted to be popular.

Being the late starter, I have developed many shortcuts to train myself and have my audiences recognized me as a good piano player.

I selected jazz piano as my target. I liked jazz very much, of course.

Other than that, I was hypnotized with the improvisation. I thought I could be free from all the musical rules once I claimed that I was playing improvisation. Of course there is chord progression and rhythm to keep. You cannot get away from the basic configuration of music. But one thing is sure that nobody can claim that you are not following the score, or you are making mistakes in playing melody line.

So, the more I learn jazz, the more I feel free. I am 66 years old and enjoy playing jazz because of this reason. So I have decided to start a program to tell my joyful experience of jazz piano.

To improvise a melody line, the first thing is that you have to recognize its base scale. You cannot be out of scale of the key. If the key of your favorite melody were C major, you could not use other notes than the notes that are included in C major scale, basically.

Well the truth of the matter is, since the music is of human feeling, you can use any notes at all. But if you use a note that is not in the C major scale, you have to resolve to a note that is in the scale. This is where you need to learn about harmony.

Is it complicated? No, it is not. The theory comes after the reality. The theory is set so that you can apply it universally. Besides, you can make money by teaching it. Right?

In constructing musical theory, the base lies if you feel comfortable with listening to the stream of notes. There is thrilling development does exist. The development has to be resolved. In classical music, “variation” is an example of improvisation of main theme. Yes, you now know that there has been improvisation in classical music.

Do you listen to Miles Davis? When Miles played with Monk, Monk did not play backing chord. No, I cannot recall the title of it. Miles did not want Monk to play, according to its discography. Because he had sensed that his chord progression had not matched with that of Mr. Monk.

Yes, both do what they want to do in the session. Are they not arrogant? But you know that they are entitled to do so.

This article is about “Take that Patience piano tabs”, you can find here a huge variety of articles about “Take that Patience piano tabs”:

If you’ve ever considered learning how to play piano you might have found yourself put off by a selection of myths and rumors that circulate wherever this magical instrument is mentioned. We’re going to break down five of the most popular of these myths in this article.

Without natural ability playing the piano is impossible

There is no reason whatsoever that every person can’t play the piano if they are willing to put in the dedication necessary to be successful on this instrument. It will take a lot of practice and patience but it is not impossible.

Compared to many instruments learning the piano is not difficult. The piano, unlike many other options, clearly allows you to tell which note is which based on the white and black keys of its keyboard. Consider the violinist who has no information as to what note they are playing with no color coding or frets as on a guitar; their training is predominately constructed of trial and error. Be glad that is not how you have to learn how to play the piano.

It’s easy to learn piano

It doesn’t matter how talented you are, you will not be able to sit beside a piano and play a masterpiece in the space of an hour, or even a month.

Learning to play the piano takes years of dedication and practice, even with the easy to learn design of the instrument itself. Don’t believe any sources that inform you that you’ll be playing within days. Learning to play piano consists of hours of practicing scales, chords, notes and rhythms. The variety available through this instrument makes the music so melodic and beautiful but to command it properly will take time.

Playing piano by ear is easy compared to reading sheet music

This is certainly a falsity, neither method is particularly easier to master than the other; they are too different to compare. Essentially whether you choose to play piano by ear or play from sheet music will come down to your personal preference, but don’t be fooled into thinking that one will take less effort or practice than the other.

You can’t play gospel or jazz music until you can play classical music

As you start to learn how to play piano you will need to begin with the basics, no matter what genre those basics are in. All genres of music have the same fundamentals in place; the scales, notes and chords do not change based on the genre. As you progress to a more advanced level in playing the piano you will become aware of the differences between the genres more notably, but until that point the genre that you choose to learn the basics in will not affect your overall ability to play different genres.

I can’t learn how to play the piano if I’m an adult, children learn faster

Children are often credited with the ability to pick things up faster than adults and there are some studies to back this idea up, however the difference is not massive. The thing that you need in learning to play the piano is dedication and patience, not youth.

This article is about “Because of you my life has change piano notes”, you can find here a huge variety of articles about “Because of you my life has change piano notes”:

That Will Help You Work Less… Experience less Stress…And… Enjoy Your Piano More Than Ever.

These are important because after all, that’s what you and I want from our piano, so we can live in the piano paradise. By the end of the article you would know what kind of freedom these can mean to you.

1- Know and communicate your “Why.”

2- Know your “Piano.”

3- “Play” the Piano.

1- Know and communicate your “Why.”

If you only know HOW to play the piano and WHAT music to play, you’re operating on second and third pieces of a three pieces puzzle. The missing piece is WHY…Start with WHY you want to play the piano and you will be a piano genius in no time.

It’s this purpose that drives and wakes you up in the morning so excited with anticipation of what you will play next; you can’t wait to get to your piano for new inspiration. This is because…you have a cause that must come out to the public, but how can you do it?

The great musicians aren’t always the ones who have the big cause; they are the ones who can clearly communicate the cause to others.

If you don’t know why you want play piano, start looking for your purpose now and you will be shocked how quickly you will start enjoying your journey to pro pianist.

2- Know your “Piano.

There are many pianos to choose from when buying a piano. You have your acoustic and your digital. You will be glad you buy one because…

Piano is a very recognized and played instrument that’s not only inspirational but fun and entertaining. Some of the most popular music in the world gained it’s popularity because of piano and you can play your music with real joy if you really know what wonderful instrument you are playing. All what you have to work with are the two keys only…the black and white.

The black and white keys are there to give you different tones to create your style. The typical keyboard has eighty-eight keys. Fifty two white notes and thirty-six black notes. These make it easy to explore and master the piano faster. These keys are your “baby.” Make sure you take time to protect them with the lid that closes over the keys when the piano is not in use.

These keys are the individual units that you will press down to make music. These keys arranged in line horizontally on the piano and consist of black and white keys. The full size pianos have pedals usually three. You can find these pedals at the base of the piano.

You can use these pedals to change the sustain, tonal quality, and action of the notes that you play

3- “Play” the Piano

The makers of the piano make it look not only quite simple to use but desirable. However it’s not hard to learn piano, you can get free piano lessons online to guide you. You can “get up and playing” in a matter of weeks. You will be well-informed to what piano course will work for you before you buy. As long as you are interested to learn and master the piano, piano is one of the most rewarding instruments to play and to enjoy.

Many people play piano as a soothing hobby and even a way to express ones creativity. Don’t wait for perfection before you start to play piano. Start somewhere so you can have something tangible you can work with to become perfect. Take action to play piano now because action turns an idea in your head into life experience, action creates your reality. Invest your time and money where your passion is, you would enjoy when you reap the grand reward.

Piano is a class instrument and a wonderful way to escape into your own world and experience what a wonderful creator you are. Then find a way to communicate “your secret world” to others… then sit back and watch how the world will pay you back… get excited… you are a creator.

Great creators like you don’t think they are the best. They simply strive to do better than their most important competitor: themselves. You don’t play piano to rank the best pianist but to get better than who you were yesterday.

Compete against someone else with your piano and no one wants to help you. But compete against yourself for better pianist and everyone wants to help you.

Playing piano is not an outcome, it’s a process… you’re always becoming more than you are. This is the secret that gets everybody’s blood “pumping” to help you as a child to get better and… you can give your-self the childhood passion even at this age…and you would feel younger.

Why are these piano tips very important to you?

Many parents (like mine) put their children in piano classes or even have a piano teacher come to their homes to teach them, hoping to give them the gift of a life time. Unfortunately, most of them give up before 18 because they are not getting the right start. Make sure you get it nailed down from now and your heart will sing when you sit at piano.

Of course this is not something you have to learn in life. Unless you plan on being a musician, playing the piano really has nothing to do with your career choice.

Learning to play the piano is more of a hobby. However, the better you get the more you may want to play the piano in front of more and more people.

You may even like to make your own music to connect with people.

Just follow the open road before you; you will soon become conscious of the hidden exceptional talent in you

This is what will take you around the world and into the castles and palaces of the rich and famous, as well as into the home and heart of ordinary people. You will never die when your “music” is singing in the hearts of men and women.

This is because…When people hear you play piano they’ll say “this song you played really touched my heart” or “I can really understand what this song is about”. It’s more than the notes themselves that communicate that feeling. It’s the way you play and express the music that creates the magic. It’s about sharing your personal possession to the world. That is priceless, but…

In order to learn to play the piano you must first learn to read the sheet music. Don’t get discouraged with sight-reading at this time because it’s not as difficult as it seems. Of course there have been pianists that have learned to play the piano with no sheet music. In fact there is even a pianist who can play the piano blind. Hopefully we will never have to do that. However this blind man can play the piano better than most people with both eyes. The fact is… No matter who you think you are, you can succeed with piano.

However you have to learn to read the sheet music before you can learn to play a piano. Before you can learn to play the piano you will have to learn to read the notes and you will have to practice playing on your piano. Remember “repetition is the mother of invention.”

The more you practice the better you will get at playing the piano. Some people prefer to hire a piano teacher to help them learn to play. The best advice I can give you is to keep trying. If you feel like giving up because you feel like you can not do it, keep practicing. Find a good piano course online to guide you to play piano professionally and faster. Don’t forget that…Life is a circle of frustration and success:

“When you succeed, keep working, because the next time you could fail. When you fail, keep working, and the next time you will succeed.”

You will be able to play the piano; it just takes time and practice. They even have beginner books for people just learning to play. You will not start playing Bach but if you practice often maybe one day you will be playing Bach with excellence.

You’ll also learn important things like how to play the piano to communicate a feeling or emotion. Composers create a piece of music to express something very important to life.

Playing piano can give you financial freedom but it’s not a work. No, it’s fun.

This is because work requires effort. What we love to do feels effortless.

Remember your WHY and only play the piano you love and you’ll never have to work again. You’ll be playing for the rest of your life and driving the best car in the world. Just imagine getting paid big amount of money for having fun…

Working Less… Experiencing less Stress…

And Enjoying Your Piano More.

“Friend us up” and always be in the loop with the latest piano playing strategies while you’re on the go.

Best

This article is about “Bands who nirvanna influenced”, you can find here a huge variety of articles about “Bands who nirvanna influenced”:

Nirvana was the one of the greatest bands of the 90′s. We all know that. We all know that their music influenced many other bands at that time and their music opened the door for many other grunge bands. All in all Nirvana was one of the most important bands in modern rock music. But what happened with Nirvana after Kurt Cobain died? How did their music influence other bands then and now? Does it still influence new bands and the teenage music masses?

I think the answer is yes. And I am not going to go into details such as post albums and tribute bands; I think the general approach is something that will explain this issue a little bit better. I think at first when Kurt Cobain died and Nirvana was no more Dave Grohl himself spread their music with Foo Fighters and Queens of Stone Age and other bands he was part of. So Nirvana’s influence continued in the work of Dave Grohl in particular. On the other hand Krist Novoselic didn’t have much influence on the music in his later attempts, which is obvious now seeing that he is now into politics and has forgotten the music life he once led.

But the influence that Nirvana and their music had, and still has, on people while they were playing and now after 15 years is something to be respected. When Nirvana played, people followed and were drawn to the music like fireflies to the light. That’s the best description of how their music was seen by the people, by teenagers, and the guys that are now working and some of them are in high government positions. The generations mostly influenced by Nirvana were people born from the early 1970′s to 1980′s. Those guys were 14 to 20 years old when Nirvana played and now are 30+ years old. My brother is in that age group and all his friends that once listened to Nirvana are all in high positions now and have great jobs. There are those people that of course didn’t make it, but they are in smaller numbers. And all the people I know that are successful and listened to Nirvana they still listen to it and consider them as the greatest.

This shows that Nirvana music didn’t have a brainwashing effect on those who knew how to listen. I love Nirvana. I was 11 years old when Kurt Cobain died, and I started listening to Nirvana in 96. Their music also influenced me and my generation in many ways, and their music was all about opening our minds. Many of us still listen to Nirvana while having serious jobs and college diplomas. It just goes to show that Nirvana was not music for the mindless like it was presented in the media. I once heard a woman say to her friend not to let their children listen to Nirvana, because that music makes people commit suicide. People fear what they don’t understand and they are close-minded and do not allow themselves to be told anything that goes against their opinion.

I just want to say that in the 21st century there are many kids who listen to Nirvana and who will grow up on their music. There are many things that influence us as human beings. A band we listen to is just a tiny part of that, but it can mean a lot.

This article is about “Michael jackson and bamds of america”, you can find here a huge variety of articles about “Michael jackson and bamds of america”:

We speak the same language (well besides a few spelling discrepancies!), we eat the same food and watch the same films, but the actual differences between British and American culture are mammoth!

There are several things that don’t quite translate from one side of the ocean to the other, and one is music. Don’t get me wrong, we love some of the huge American musicians as much as we love our own over here, like the late great Michael Jackson, Aerosmith, even our love of rap music came from overseas, it’s safe to say British talent doesn’t have as much success in such a vast market when the tables are turned! For decades British bands have been trying to make it big over in the US with only an select few making the grade, and even then they struggle to climb up the charts.

Finally, we’re beginning to see a breakthrough (and to be fair, besides The Beatles and Take That it’s been a long time coming!) and making progress in the big U S of A! Not because we’ve started making better music, the talent has always been there, but because our fabulous British culture is finally being embraced and appreciated, our love and music and fashion going hand in hand with it.

We have the trendsetters of America to thank for this, like Madonna, who fell in love with our culture around the same time she ‘fell in love’ with Guy Richie, or Gwyneth Paltrow, helping boost Coldplay around the globe (no matter how much Chris Martin will say it’s down to the music). But for us Brits, music goes hand in hand with fashion; it’s more than a hobby, for many of us, it’s a lifestyle. We follow fashion like we follow music, and in Britain, they are intertwined so much it’s hard sometimes to distinguish what came first…

Gio Goi clothing originated from Manchester, once again, closely tied in with music, this time taking its inspiration from the rave scene in Manchester that was massive at the time. In-keeping with its music roots, Gio Goi was quickly adopted by our own musicians, advocates being Pete Doherty, Liam Gallagher and even Lilly Allen, and that’s only naming a few!

With musicians queuing up to wear the Gio Goi label loud and proud, it was only a matter of time before the celebs from across the seas embraced our fashion revolution, which we can see changing equally as quickly as the music. Once again, in order to break the US you need to know how to get through the door, and who better to get you through the door than the incredibly popular trendsetter of the moment, Rhianna.

The Brit men’s clothing brand is now hoping for growth in the US with Rhianna sporting their latest ranges of rock and roll designer clothes. Being a brand that originates from the music scene, it makes sense to get the musicians to open the door, Rhianna being the first to wear Gio Goi clothing loud and proud, with more to come. Watch this space… who knows who’ll be next to take that trip over the water and make it!

This article is about “Five components of composition photography”, you can find here a huge variety of articles about “Five components of composition photography”:

To put it simply, a landscape shot refers to scenery captured from one point of view. There are usually no children or animals or other objects in it, just scenery, like a sunset or mountain range. Once in a while, an animal or object may be used for composition or as a means of displaying scale and perspective. However, more often than not, it is just a view of the outside.

Purists argue that pictures of the sea coast or the ocean, or pictures of man-made structures are not landscapes. A picture of the coast is a seascape while that of a city would rightfully be called a cityscape. Any picture dominated by terrain or natural land is therefore a landscape.

There are three kinds of landscapes, representation, impressionistic and abstract.

Representational - This style is the most realistic of the three. There is no artificial manipulation or artifice added to the landscape. It is basically, a ‘what you see is what you get picture’. It is a true snap shot of what you see.

Impressionistic – In this style the photographer uses techniques that play up the vague or elusive qualities of the scene. This kind of landscape retains the quality of what makes a landscape while at the same time giving an impression rather than a clear tone or representation.

Abstract – The photographer uses the elements of the landscape as components to be manipulated to produce greater effect. Components are juxtaposed and moved to create a design rather than a real picture of what is actually represented.

Here are some landscape photography tips for making better pictures.

1. Foreground – Focusing on an object in the foreground for framing purposes increases the drama of the shot. Also frame the shot with a center of interest to capture the eye of the viewer.

2. Move the Center - Moving the center of interest off to one side also heightens the interest of the shot.

3. Scale – Drawing attention to the size of the subject is sometimes important to the understanding of the scene. This can be done by adding people or a small object that would normally be in the scene to frame around gives the added dimension of scale.

4. Lighting - Lighting will make or break any photograph. Pay very careful attention to light source, shadows, clarity and diffusion. This is the number one frame of reference for all photography, included within landscape photography tips.

5. Tripod - Use a tripod to ensure sharpness in capturing the scene, especially in low light situations. Camera movement or shake will not add to the picture and may do it irreparable harm.

6. Composition is so Important - Really, really look at your composition. Make sure there is nothing in the picture or viewfinder that you don’t want such as overhead electrical wires or errant branches from closer trees that might obscure the view and ruin the picture. Watch out for unneeded objects in the foreground. It may be necessary to move them out of your way, or barring that, if you can’t move them, then move the camera.

7. Weather - Don’t let the weather keep you from shooting. Sometimes the weather is just the dramatic effect that you are looking for. Rain has a way of adding softness and peacefulness to a scene, take advantage of it. Wind or ripples in water also add dramatic elements for a stronger photograph.

8. Maximize Depth of Field - This is done by choose a small aperture setting in over to deepen the focus of the picture. Bear in mind that a smaller aperture also means there is less light coming through, forcing other adjustments to compensate.

9. Lines – Find a way to lead the viewers eyes into the picture. In other words the lines that leads from the foreground to the background. Image depth and scale can make this happen.

10. Horizon Consideration – An old rule in photography is to consider the horizon on two fronts… is it straight and where is it compositional wise? A composition line falls in one of three areas of the picture rather than down the center, the upper middle or lower third. Trying working in these areas rather than always locating the main points of interest in the center of the frame.

Finally, always be on the lookout for a different viewpoint. Changing the point of view adds drama to an uninteresting or routine scene. Before snapping the shot, look through the viewer and move it right, then left, then up and down. Zoom in and then zoom out. Change the viewpoint. Only then after looking at as many possibilities as you can, do you take the picture.

This article is about “Bands of america grand national championship patch”, you can find here a huge variety of articles about “Bands of america grand national championship patch”:

The world changed dramatically during the second half of the Twentieth Century, as the United States became the most powerful nation both politically and culturally. One American phenomenon that has left its mark in all corners of the world is pop music. Here is my list of the most important pop songs of the Twentieth Century, in chronological order. Perhaps they were not the first, the best or the most original, but they were the right thing at the right time, and they changed history.

1. “Rock Around the Clock,” (1954). Bill Haley and the Comets. In the early years of Rock music, the inclusion of this song would be a no brainer. It was the first great Rock and Roll hit, selling 25 million copies. Nowadays, we may have a desire to right the record, and say that black performers like Big Joe Turner, Bo Diddley and Ike Turner were the real originators of the style, but the fact is that in the segregated atmosphere of that time, it was necessary for a talented white group to champion the music to a larger audience. The Comets were able to rise to the occasion.

2. “Only You,” (1955). The Platters. They became the personification of the emerging doo-wop style which was a blend of rock and roll combos and vocal styling that can be traced back to the Ink Spots and other performers of the Big Band era. Doo-wop was first successfully introduced by the Penguins a year earlier, with “Earth Angel,” but it was The Platters, a classy act from the West Coast that really established the genre. Their many hits, such as “The Great Pretender” and “My Prayer,” served as a standard of quality for other groups to strive for. With its popularity in the multi-ethnic society of the Northeast, doo-wop was the first racially integrated style, and it still has a devoted following to this day, thanks to the many brilliant vocal performances.

3. “Hound Dog,” (1956). Elvis Presley. In that year Elvis exploded on the scene with this hit, plus “Blue Suede Shoes”, “Heartbreak Hotel” and others. He was revolutionary in the McCarthy era age of conformity. The influence of Elvis Presley cannot be underestimated: he introduced national audiences to rockabilly music, white audiences to black rock and roll and his on-stage persona made venues accessible for the even more flamboyant acts like Little Richard, Chuck Berry and Jerry Lee Lewis. He created the Rock and roll version of the teen idol, updating the image from Frank Sinatra’s time.

4. “La Bamba,” (1958). Ritchie Valens. This song is important on two counts: it brought the Spanish language and Mexican tradition into the mainstream of Rock music. The opening phrase, “Para bailar la Bamba,” sounds like an historic cry, “un grito.” It is also important because it launched the fad of dance songs that conceived of dance as an expression of the inner self, rather than a dating ritual. “In order to dance the Bamba, you have to have a touch of grace,” and listeners began to see dancing in a new light, as communication with their own bodies.

5. “Shop Around,” (1960). Smokey Robinson and the Miracles. A perfectly crafted blend of doo-wop vocals and driving rock and roll beats, this is the recording that launched Motown. The Shirelles, a New York “girl group” had scored a hit a few months earlier with “Dedicated to the One I Love,” (1959), thus establishing the genre. The Shirelles were trailblazers, building on the success of the earlier doo-wop oriented Chantels and leading to many other girl groups, but it was Motown that became the spiritual home of this new musical style that eventually came to be called “soul music,” and so the Motown recording is the one that made history. Motown was one of the richest veins of pop music of this entire period, culminating in the landmark recording, “Papa was a Rollin’ Stone,” (1972) by the Temptations. By that point the cultural revolution that was the 1960s had transformed the Motown sound into something completely different.

6. “At Last,” (1961). Etta James. Mixed the styles of raucous R and B, Rock and roll and the female slow groove. She did not have the jazz cachet of her contemporary Dinah Washington, instead she represented a new, rebellious era of earthy hedonism. She opened the way for the acceptance of other iconoclastic female performers like Aretha Franklin and Janis Joplin (with her distinctive version of “Summertime”). It proved to be fertile ground for male singers, as well, notably, Percy Sledge with “When a Man Loves a Woman,” (1969).

7. “She Loves You,” (1963). The Beatles. Though not an American group, they had an enormous influence on the history of American music and the pop culture of the 1960s. “I Wanna Hold your Hand” was their first U.S. hit in January, 1964, and was followed almost immediately by this song. The two songs taken together illustrate the innovative quality of the Beatles in terms of melody, song structure and vocal harmonic style. “She Loves You,” however, was the more iconic of the two, with its “Yeah, Yeah, Yeah” refrain that came to symbolize this genre. The British Invasion that followed changed music history.

8. “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction,” (1965). The Rolling Stones. The Beatles were soon followed across the Atlantic by their bizarro-world evil twins, the Rolling Stones. If the Beatles had little halos, the Stones had horns. Their spirit of rebelliousness would find fertile ground in the atmosphere of the 1960s. They stayed true to their heavy guitar based genre, even as the Beatles became more cerebral and psychedelic. The Rolling Stones can be seen as the fathers of Heavy Metal, and through their influence on groups like the Velvet Underground, the spiritual fathers of Alternative Rock.

9. “Subterranean Homesick Blues,” (1965). Bob Dylan. As a singer of protest songs, Bob Dylan had been one of the leading performers of the early 1960s folk movement. His move to “folk rock” in 1965 was shocking to his fan base, and when he appeared on stage at the Newport Folk Festival with an electric guitar, he was vigorously booed, in one of the most famous incidents of the period. This song was revolutionary not only for its innovative blend of musical styles, but also for its new use of language. The intensity of imagery was something that had never been heard before in pop music and would not be equaled again until Grand Master Flash and “The Message” of 1982. (See below).

10. “White Rabbit” (1967). Jefferson Airplane. This was their second hit song to come out of the album “Surrealistic Pillow,” after “Don’t You Want Somebody to Love.” “White Rabbit” really exemplified the West Coast psychedelic style of the 1967 Summer of Love, with its surrealistic lyrics and mindblowing crescendo. Grace Slick single handedly invented the concept of the powerhouse rocker female. Other important West Coast groups at this time were the Doors with “Light My Fire,” and the Byrds, with their cover of Dylan’s “Mr. Tambourine Man.” Anybody going to San Francisco?

11. “Hey, Joe,” (1967). Jimi Hendrix. Working mainly in New York and London, he represents the Atlantic variant of the psychedelic rock scene. His guitar work and his performance style made him a trailblazer of that period, along with the Who and Cream. He is a giant of pop music history because he bridged black and white musical styles so successfully, and with his creativity helped to launch both the Heavy Metal style and the Funk style of the 1970s.

12. “Respect” (1968). Aretha Franklin. With the overwhelming impact of the British Invasion and the psychedelic styles, soul music had lost its luster as a vanguard form of pop music. Aretha changed that with her infusion of gospel and driving rhythms to the old formulas of Motown music, bringing the music back to its African-American roots. Respect is a perfectly appropriate title for this achievement, because suddenly the centrality of black music to the creative spirit of American pop music became indisputable.

13. “Living for the City,” (1973). Stevie Wonder. Profoundly significant both from a musical and a social perspective. The use of synthesizers and the spoken interlude in the song gave it an innovative structure. The social commentary and spoken dialog led the way for the development of rap music later in the decade.

14. “I Will Survive,” (1978). Gloria Gaynor. It is the anthem of the disco mania of the 1970s. Previous disco hits had been “The Hustle,” (1975) by Van McCoy and the Soul City Symphony, and “Tangerine,” (1976) by Salsoul Orchestra. These instrumentals allowed dancers to focus on the rhythms and steps as they learned the new dance crazes of the period, be they partner dances, like the Latin Hustle, or line dances like the Bus Stop. The 1977 film, “Saturday Night Fever” included songs with vocal parts by the BeeGees (Stayin’ Alive) and the Trammps, “Disco Inferno.” However, the lyrics to these songs were always secondary and usually barely intelligible. With the soaring vocal performance of Gloria Gaynor on this song, and the message in the lyrics, the hustle finally found its voice and came alive.

15. “Rapper’s Delight,” (1979). Sugar Hill Gang. This song marked the beginning of rap music. It is a moment of pop music history every bit as significant as anything done by Elvis or the Beatles. The rap style was soon perfected and packaged by other groups, notably Run-DMC, and went on to permeate Western pop music in the following decades.

16. “The Message” (1982). Grand Master Flash and the Furious Five. By infusing their verses with such powerful social commentary, they demonstrated the immense power of the rap style. The syncopated line of monosyllables, “Don’t push me ’cause I’m close to the edge, I’m try-in’ not to lose my head,” was unprecedented, and the little laugh that followed it was truly haunting. With their virtuoso command of language, they did for rap music what Bob Dylan did for folk rock. The form was brought to complete commercial fruition 13 years later with Coolio’s “Gangster’s Paradise,” (1995).

17. “Thriller,” (1982). Michael Jackson. A huge event. Musically, it was a synthesis of many styles that came before: funk, rock, r n b, disco, novelty song, but it was so much more than its parts, as it seamlessly fused these styles together. It was also the prototypical music video, a visual accomplishment that has never been duplicated. The album is the best selling album of all time.

18. “Like a Virgin,” (1984). Madonna. Both she and Cyndi Lauper crashed onto the music scene at the same time in 1983, as the first female performers to create every aspect of their onstage personas and to present themselves as performance artists rather than simply artists who perform. However, Lauper’s style remained idiosyncratic and inimitable, but Madonna’s style became a genre. She created the sexy, leggy female pop idol, in the tradition of male performers like Michael Jackson and Prince, and she was followed by an endless string of other women, some imitators, some artists in their own right.

19. “Conga,” (1985). Miami Sound Machine. It introduced English speaking music lovers to the Caribbean Hispanic style that had been percolating on the East coast for the previous two decades. Gloria Estefan’s clipped phrasing even gave the English lyrics a Spanish feeling. She matched or even surpassed this achievement with “Oye Mi Canto” in 1989. World Music and Latin fusion are concepts that began to take their present form here.

20. “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” (1991). Nirvana. The grunge style of the 1990s got its most iconic performance in this. Kurt Cobain’s stage persona and aesthetics have influenced all the alternative rock singers that have come after him, giving them an alternative to the fake cockney whines that had dominated before. The members of Nirvana were particularly articulate through their music and artistic statements, thus codifying the characteristics of this new style.

This is a list of twenty very different and unique songs, but there are certain characteristics. One striking thing is the low number of women on this list (six, including Grace Slick and Gloria Estefan). It seems that women have had a hard time being seen as innovators and being given the opportunity to take a lead role. An example of this double standard can be seen in the way that Mick Jagger, with his middle class British background from the opposite end of the English speaking world, never faced serious questioning about his embracing of black performance and musical styles, but Janis Joplin, born and raised in the Deep South, was criticized as being derivative or worse, and her reputation suffered for many years because of this. A clear division of styles along racial lines is, in fact, one of the most persistent traits of pop music even to this day. However, if such divides are normally seen as polarizing and undesirable elsewhere, that is not necessarily the case in pop music.

Here, they have created the terrain for multi-faceted and rich traditions that thrive on cross-pollination, and when we allow performers to bridge these gaps with their creativity, we get some of the greatest performers, such as Elvis Presley and Jimi Hendrix. As American pop music has grown in complexity, the opportunities have emerged for more productive mixtures, but the innovative spirit seems to have hit a dry patch. It remains to be seen where the next great song will come from; it’s been a long time coming.

This article is about “Merlot gives me headaches”, you can find here a huge variety of articles about “Merlot gives me headaches”:

The production of wine is like any other mass produced product, there will always be a few problems along the way. The skill is to reduce these to an absolute minimum, but the odd nasty will occasionally raise its head.

Wine problems can occur at so many stages during the winemaking process, and if left uncorrected will appear later on. Tasting a wine is subjective, determined not only by the wines character, but also the individuals likes and dislikes. Some wines will appear sweet to one person and dry to another, the field is broad.

So if you have just had that bottle of Merlot, with tasting notes on the back label that read something like, “ripe red fruit flavours with a savoury finish”, did you recognize those characteristics? Perhaps you found notes of stewed prunes with demerara sugar instead. Whose tasting assessment was more accurate? Lots of questions, so let’s see if there could be a fault lurking or whether the official tasting notes reflected a poetic licence of mythological proportions.

Faults in wine are subject to conjecture. What can generally be regarded as faults may actually be beneficial to certain styles, in fact many of the great wine styles of the world are based on faults of a kind. These include:

Champagne – a secondary fermentation in the bottle discovered by the monk Dom Perignon.

Sauternes – the sweet wine get its character from mould on the grapes affected by Botrytis cinera, or noble rot as it’s known.

Tawny Port – a port that is aged in oak casks for an extended time thus undergoing oxidation.

Vinho verde – goes through a malolactic fermentation which is used to soften wines with higher acidity.

Flor sherry – the fortified high alcohol wine develops an aerobic yeast growth in the cask.

At lower concentrations, these faults can give depth and complexity, therefore do not appear as faults. On the other hand some characteristics are only faults when they are present in excess.

As wine contains alcohol and acidity, significant levels of bacteria are unable to grow and survive in it. Faulty wine may be unpleasant, but it will not harm you. Let’s take a look at the major nasty faults which occur in wine.

Oxidation (O2): The #1 wine problem, whereby oxygen reacts with various components. In red wines, oxidation can be seen when the colour changes from red to brown, and the nose can become acetic and sour.

Cork Taint: This used to be a big problem when most of the wines were sealed with corks, but is less so nowadays. A musty taint was imparted into the wine by a compound called 2,4,6 trichloroanisole (TCA) which came from mould growth on the cork bark.

Sulfur Dioxide (SO2): The use of SO2 has always been used in winemaking, and plays a vital part in wine preservation, however, when used in excess it has a bad side. It can completely dominate the nose of a wine, and can lead to headaches or allergic reactions to those who are vulnerable, especially asthmatics.

Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S): This potent fault is characterised by the smell of bad eggs. H2S will often react with other components in wine to form related compounds called Mercaptans. These Mercaptans have a range of unpleasant odours, such as ‘wet dog hair’, ‘burnt rubber’ or ‘sweaty saddles’. H2S is primarily formed by yeast the during fermentation process.

Volatile Acidity (VA): The term VA describes the presence of excessive amounts of acetic acid or a related compound, ethyl acetate. Acetic acid is the major compound in vinegar, so the aroma will notable, whilst the ethyl acetate is a main component in nail varnish remover. High acetic levels can also cause a sharpness on the palate.

As can be seen from this list of major wine faults – there are numerous others as well – making wine can be fraught with difficulties.

The use of high grade materials, such as stainless steel combined with good all round hygiene has no doubt reduced the incidence of many faults. The best winemaking skills and attention to detail during the fermentation process right through to bottling will limit bacterial growth.

Armed with a sensitive nose and clear palate you will now know how to detect wine faults, should they jump out of the bottle at you!

This article is about “Bands of america grand national championship 2010 scores”, you can find here a huge variety of articles about “Bands of america grand national championship 2010 scores”:
