This article is about “City of new orleans sheet music violin”, you can find here a huge variety of articles about “City of new orleans sheet music violin”:

I once had a slightly tipsy singer approach me at a show and ask in all seriousness how I could possibly be such an accomplished Blues singer since I have never been an alcoholic and had never taken drugs. Though my shows often turn into Mr. Kool’s House of Blues, I had to explain that substance abuse is not what the Blues is about. I will expand upon that scenario to lay bare the true facts on how to sing the Blues.

The literature of lyrics on the development of Blues may help explain some of the prerequisites for, and the importance of Blues to the development of popular music. According to legend, a famous philosopher (and Rock star) Richard Starkey wrote, “You got to pay your dues if you want to sing the Blues, and you know it don’t come Easy”. Yes this does indicate that the Blues finds its beginnings in hardship and deprivation.

The Blues musical style was the spawning ground for much of Modern music. The great commentator and Blues singer Muddy Waters wrote, “The Blues had a baby, they named the baby Rock and Roll”. Rock got it’s start in the Blues style of the 50′s. Many famous Rock artists such as Elvis, the Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin all started out doing Blues. The term R&B originally stood for “Rhythm and Blues”, not “Rap and Bad-lyrics” as it does today.

You don’t have to write Blues songs in Ebonics, but it helps. With that as our opening thought, let me s’plain how you too can be “singin’ the Blues”. Most Blues begin with: “Woke up this morning…..”. Something happy like: “I got a good woman” is a bad way to begin the Blues, unless you stick something depressing in the line like, “I got a good woman but she got PMS”. The Blues is simple. After you get the first line right, repeat it. Then find something that rhymes….sort of.

“Got a good woman but she got PMS”.

“Yea, got a good woman but she got PMS”.

“When she gets mean,

she scares me half to death”.

The Blues is not about choice. “You stuck in a ditch… you stuck in a ditch… ain’t no way out… better love that bitch.”

Blues cars: Chevys, Fords, Cadillacs and broken down pickup trucks. Blues don’t travel in BMW’s or Sport Utility Vehicles. Often Blues transportation is a Greyhound bus or a southbound train. Jet aircraft and company cars ain’t even in the running. But walkin’ plays a major part in the blues lifestyle. So does fixin’ to die.

Teenagers can’t sing the Blues. They ain’t fixin’ to die yet. Adults sing the Blues. In Blues, “adulthood” means being old enough to get the electric chair if you “shot a man in Memphis”. Memphis by the way is the birthplace of the Blues. Ain’t nothin’ closer to Blues then “Walking in Memphis”.

Blues can take place in New York City but not in Hawaii or any place in Canada. Hard times in Minneapolis or Seattle is probably just seasonal depression. Chicago, St. Louis, Memphis, New Orleans and Kansas City are still the best places to have the Blues. You cannot have the blues in any place that don’t get rain. And we all know, “It never rains in Southern California”.

A man with male pattern baldness ain’t the blues, you got to be completely bald. A woman with male pattern baldness is. Breaking your leg ’cause you went skiing is not the blues. Breaking your leg ’cause an alligator chomped on it is.

You can’t have no Blues in an office or a shopping mall. The lighting is wrong. Go outside to the parking lot or sit by the dumpster. Good places for the Blues: Karaoke bar, Highway, Jail house, empty bed, bottom of a whiskey bottle. Bad places for the Blues: Nordstrom’s, gallery openings, Ivy League Institutions, Golf courses.

No one will believe it’s the Blues if you wear a suit, ‘less you happen to be an old ethnic person and you slept in it… for two weeks. Best clothes for the blues is torn overalls, or a prison uniform. And of course you should be wearing a Kool Blues hat. Blues instruments are Harmonica, Blues Guitar and Saxophone. A Xylophone, Chimes or Violin won’t cut it.

Do you have the right to sing the Blues? Yes, if: You older than dirt, You blind, You “shot a man in Memphis”, You “can’t get no satisfaction”, You a “Back Door Man”, You named your guitar after your ex-wife who left you for your best friend. No, if: You have all your teeth, You “once was blind but now can see”, The man in Memphis lived, You have a 401K or trust fund.

Blues is not a matter of color. It’s a matter of bad luck. Tiger Woods cannot sing the blues. Sonny Liston could. Ugly white people also got a leg up on the blues. If you ask for water and your darlin’ give you poison, it’s the Blues. Other acceptable Blues beverages are: Ripple, Whiskey or Bourbon, Muddy Water, nasty black coffee. The following are NOT Blues beverages: Perrier, Chardonnay, Snapple, Slim Fast or Diet Coke.

If death occurs in a cheap motel or a “rundown shack by a railroad track”, it’s a Blues death. Stabbed in the back by a jealous lover is another Blues way to die. So are the electric chair, substance abuse (but it’s not a requirement), and dying lonely on a broken down cot. You can’t have a Blues death if you die during a tennis match or while getting liposuction.

Some Blues names for women: Sadie, Hanna, Big Mama, Bessie, Fat Bottom Dumpling, and Caldonia. Some Blues names for men: Joe, Willie, Joe-Willie, Little Willie, Big Willie, Muddy, and Leroy. People with names like Michelle, Amber, Jennifer, Tiffany, Brooke, Brittany and Heather can’t sing the Blues no matter how many men they shoot in Memphis.

If you want to sing the blues you need a good Blues singers name. You may adopt one. First take the name of a physical infirmity (Blind, Cripple, Lame, etc.) Then add the name of a fruit (Lemon, Melon, Cherry, Tomato etc. Yes tomato is a fruit, and a health food to boot). Then tack on the last name of a President (Johnson, Jefferson, Bush, etc.) For example: Blind Melon Jefferson, Jakeleg Lemon Johnson, Killer Tomato Bush, etc. (maybe Horny Cactus Clinton?).

Now that you are dully indoctrinated into the fine art of Blues singing, here is a little Blues tune to practice on:

“I got a woman never could be true”

“I got a woman she never could be true”

“plays jokes on me,

then hollers APRIL FOOL”.

This article is about “GOLDEN WEDDING HUMOUR”, you can find here a huge variety of articles about “GOLDEN WEDDING HUMOUR”:

You want to reach your Golden Wedding Anniversary? Than laugh with your partner, a lot. A great deal of evidence suggests that this is one of the strongest predictors of relationship health. One study conducted by Krystyna Aune in 2002 explored the relationship between the level of playfulness in a relationship and relationship satisfaction, and not surprisingly she found that the more couples incorporated lighthearted and playful behavior into their relationship patterns the happier they reported being. Aune found that people who were quick to use playfulness and humor in life tended to have higher levels of self-esteem, and also experienced higher levels of other positive emotions in their lives such as joy as a result of their lighthearted attitude towards life.

Playfulness in a relationship can also produce better levels of intimacy and greatly increase sexual satisfaction in a relationship. One wonderful movie that explores the relationship between sexuality, humor, and attitudes about sexuality in old age is called Still Doing It

http://www.stilldoingit.com/

which explores the sex lives of women over the age of 65. This movie includes a great deal of material of how humor bonds people together and is one of the tools that promotes a healthy sexual life for people, even as their physical bodies may be in decline. With the fastest growing population in the United States now consisting of people over 85, this film is a must see for anyone who wishes to better understand how the things such as our sexuality that make us uniquely human don’t simply disappear as we age. The film also makes the point that having a good sense of humor is one of the strongest allies we have as our physical bodies change, even as we cope with the changes and loss that aging inevitably brings.

Through my own work in Nursing Homes throughout the years, I can assure you that sexuality is indeed one of the last things to go, and many people who work in Nursing Homes will tell you that in terms of sexuality these places are often more like college dormitories than hospitals. Many of the stories from my book Stories of Hope and Courage, including this one called “Love conquers all”
http://alzheimers.infopop.cc/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/204109581/m/1391050581

talk about how romance often thrives in a Nursing Home, and as a caregiver this was always inspiring and often deeply touching to see. Much like is probably true for Junior Highs, dating events, nightclubs, and any other places people go to meet one another, humor is the catalyst that often brings people together.

On a personal note to emphasize this idea, my grandfather Hank just passed away at the age of 90. He was one of the funniest men I ever knew, and his outlook on life helped instill in me a lighthearted template for life which I hope I will always be able to remember. He was married to my grandmother Lee for 67 years, and I have no doubt that the humor and laughter between them was one of the best reasons they were able to reach their Golden wedding anniversary and much, much more. A person could fill their home with books on maintaining relationships, but not find a simpler recipe for marital success than being able to consistently laugh at life’s little moments together. This was the secret of my grandparent’s success, and a lesson I hope I’ll continue to remember.

This article is about “Charity gifts michigan”, you can find here a huge variety of articles about “Charity gifts michigan”:

The question of what foundations to turn to for funding is one Christian ministries and churches ponder over all the time. There are of course various factors to consider. The degree of compatibility between your mission and the aims of a foundation remains the most important consideration. But at a time when foundation funding is declining, it helps to know which foundations are giving the most – along with knowing a little about their overall purpose, the kinds of Christian organizations they fund, and the kinds of programs that interest them.

The following are the top 20 Christian grant funding sources in terms of funding generosity.

1. Of all the Christian grant foundations accepting applications at this time the Alharetta, Georgia-based National Christian Foundation (NCF) provides the most funds. Seeking to further the gospel of Jesus Christ, its funding territory is national. This is largely a donor advised fund. A donor-advised fund is a charitable giving vehicle administered by a third party and created for the purpose of managing charitable donations on behalf of an organization, family, or individual. A donor-advised fund offers the opportunity to create an easy-to-establish, low cost, flexible vehicle for charitable giving as an alternative to direct giving or creating a private foundation.

NCF helps individuals and families plan their giving through such programs as the Legacy Fund (after death giving). It advises them on asset giving (cash, stocks, real estate, business interests, restricted securities) and shows them how to balance income needs and estate planning goals (through charitable trusts and charitable gift annuities.)

The Single Charity Fund allows supporters to donate all kinds of assets; the Professional Advisors group – comprised of financial planners, CPA’s, attorneys, and more – advises supporters in the art of tax-efficient giving.

2. The Christian Aid Ministries is a foundation based in Berlin, Ohio. Having an international gift giving scope, the Ministries seeks to “provide spiritual and material assistance such as food, clothing, medicine, and Christian literature to needy people in various countries.” It also provides emergency funds and in-kind gifts. The Ministries supports Amish, Mennonite, and other conservative Anabaptists as they minister to the physical and religious needs of people worldwide. It aids victims of war, famine, and natural disasters.

3. The Nehemiah Corporation is a foundation out of Sacramento, California. Its mission is to facilitate “home ownership and asset development opportunities for diverse populations in underserved neighborhoods across the U.S., while maintaining a commitment to successful, responsible homeownership.” It gives mostly to California foundations and individuals and to Christian organizations that support its mission.

4. The Trinity Christian Center of Santa Ana is a foundation from Tustin, California. It supports Christian services and organizations that seek to spread the gospel around the world. It provides care, comfort, and emergency aid to the sick, the disabled, the homeless. It is also known for producing televised religious broadcasts for ministries that spread the gospel worldwide.

5. The Barnabas Foundation is a foundation from Tinley Park, Illinois that supports its nearly 200 member Christian ministries through planned giving and estate planning. Its participating churches include Legacy Churches, Good Steward Ministry Churches, Member Asset Management Churches, Member Churches. It also offers stewardship education as well as development programs that facilitate stewardship “based on God’s ownership of all gifts.”

6. The J. Bulow Campbell Foundation is an independent foundation from Atlanta, Georgia. The foundation seeks to uplift “intellectual and spiritual life, preferably projects of a permanent nature or for capital funds.” It does not fund operating expenses or recurrent programs except in cases where funding might allow a significant new program to succeed without continuing support from the foundation. It gives anonymously to church-related agencies of the Presbyterian Church, but not to congregations. It mostly supports organizations in Georgia, though it does give to organizations in Alabama, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.

7. The Rupert H. Johnson Foundation is an independent foundation in San Mateo, California that generally funds only educational programs in California and Virginia. Only Christian organizations seeking grants for education programs in these two geographic regions would be eligible for funding.

8. The Rees-Jones Foundation, a family foundation based in Dallas, Texas, funds “programs that help improve the quality of life for the underserved of north Texas.” It provides employee/matching gifts and funds capital campaigns, general operations, management and program development, and scholarship funds. It supports churches that seek to relieve hunger, and it provides medical care for the mentally and physically disabled, educational opportunities for youth, and affordable housing, shelter, and spiritual development for those left behind.

9. The Poplar Foundation is an independent foundation that mostly gives within its base of Memphis and the metropolitan area. It funds mostly youth services and education. Ministries that focus on these two areas are eligible for funding.

10. The Wege Foundation, an independent foundation in Grand Rapids, Michigan, gives mostly within Kent County and above all in Grand Rapids. Christian agencies that provide health, human services, and education are likelier to receive funding from the foundation than those that do not. It funds annual campaigns, building/renovation, capital campaigns, curriculum development, endowments, equipment, matching/challenge campaigns, and program development.

11. The Hope Christian Community Foundation is a Christian public charity community foundation in Memphis, Tennessee that “helps Christians share their wealth with others in the most thoughtful and efficient ways.” It serves ministries by administering and managing agency funds, offering a cash management pool, investing endowments, and making grants through the Hope of Memphis Fund. It partners with churches to serve the community, administer church and donor-advised funds for church members, and offer a cash management pool.

12. The Maclellan Foundation is a Chattanooga, Tennessee-based independent foundation. It gives internationally and nationally, stressing Chattanooga. It is the largest of a group of four family foundations that are committed to “fulfilling the Great Commission of Jesus Christ through strategic giving.” The foundation provides financial and leadership training to local organizations that enhance the spiritual wellbeing of the Commission by working “to extend the Kingdom of God to every tribe, nation, person, and tongue.” Toward that end, the foundation offers consulting services, equipment, general/operating support, program development and evaluation, and seed money to Christian organizations.

13. The New York City-based American Bible Society is a foundation that translates, publishes, and distributes the Bible in every language it can. The Society wants every person “to experience the Bible’s life changing message.” It collaborates with other Christian organizations including Faith Comes by Hearing, the creator of an audio version of the Bible. Other partners are Feed the Children, the Military Ministry, Mission Year, Samaritan Purse/Operation Christmas Child, United Bible Societies, and the National Association of State and Regional Bible Societies.

14. The National Endowment Association is a public charity in Princeton, Indiana that helps small to mid-sized charities in the United States, mostly religious ministries, endow funds. The objective is to free ministries from the constant demands of fundraising so they can devote more time to their missions. The association helps them solicit long-term planned gifts, something the larger charities already have the means to do. It helps them tap into larger funding sources through tax-exempt planning. It also helps them promote their charity by offering website templates, educational classes, marketing material templates, marketing/fundraising consultation, and donor/consumer seminars.

15. The Harold Simmons Foundation of Dallas, Texas is a company-sponsored foundation. It provides grants that support zoos, arts and culture, education, energy, health, substance abuse treatment, HIV/AIDS treatment, disaster relief, athletics, human services, human rights, community development, programs that address women’s issues, and Christian organizations. It gives mostly in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

16. The Norcliffe Foundation is an independent foundation in Seattle, Washington. It gives to organizations that benefit the arts and cultural organizations, hospitals, early childhood development, higher and secondary education, and historic preservation. It also supports medical research and health associations, hospices, the environment and conservation, and social services that include programs for the disabled, the homeless, child welfare, youth agencies, and the aged. The foundation’s Christian grantees are the Roman Catholic Church and religious associations. It gives mostly in the Puget Sound area of Washington, especially in Seattle.

17. The Stephen and Mary Birch Foundation of Wilmington, Delaware is an independent foundation that gives throughout the United States. It supports nonprofit institutions, communities, and organizations that support research, medical, health, educational, sports, social services, and artistic programs in communities across the nation. Christian organizations that work in any of these areas are eligible for funding.

18. The Harry J. Lloyd Charitable Trust in Overland Park, Kansas “supports God’s work as described in the Great Commission by spreading evangelism throughout the world.” It primarily supports organizations and programs that further this mission. The Trust provides grants that help start new ministries or new programs or expand current programs. It funds organizations that are creative, accountable, stable, and effective. It also funds Christian programs that provide housing, food, medical assistance, and education for the poor. It may also support medical research in different areas.

19. The Lynn and Foster Freiss Family Foundation is an independent foundation out of Jackson, Wyoming. It mostly funds faith-based entrepreneurial programs, especially one-one-one mentoring. The foundation provides general/operating support, matching/challenge support, and program-related investment/loans.

20. IBS-STL is a foundation from Colorado Springs, Colorado. It came about in 2007 from a merger of the National Bible Society and Send the Light. It gives nationally and internationally to Christian organizations that further its mission of translating, interpreting, and publishing the Bible. Its goal is to give more and more people throughout the world the opportunity to experience the Bible.

Some foundations exist solely to benefit Christian ministries and churches. Others lack a direct connection to Christianity but work to solve problems that are at the core of Christian concern. Some have a limited geographic focus; others have a national focus; still others have an international focus. But wherever your organization operates, and whatever programs it has, many (if not most) of these foundations are viable funding possibilities for your organization. And there are countless other possibilities. The Christian Funding Directory (CFD), Foundation Directory Online, and Foundation Search are the most valuable sources of information about foundations.

This article is about “What bands were inspired by nirvana”, you can find here a huge variety of articles about “What bands were inspired by nirvana”:

Seattle is a city known for a wide array of things. First of all, Seattle is known as one of the most architecturally pretty cities in the country, with most tourists and locals alike agreeing that the buildings and most of the place is beautiful. Also, the city is known for having terrible weather almost the entire year around. Typically, like much of the rest of the Pacific Northwest, Seattle has weather that is rainy and gray for most of the time. Also, apparently Seattle is known for masonry contractor and chimney repair, which are supposed to be among some of the best in the country. The upcoming paragraphs will discuss other important contributions that Seattle has made to American and global culture in general.

Chances are, unless it is somehow against a religion somewhere or something, that almost every person in the country has used a computer at some point in time. Most likely, Seattle is to thank for that computer surprisingly. While not located exactly in Seattle, computer goliath Microsoft headquarters are located in Redmond, Washington which is basically considered Seattle anyway. Microsoft makes most computer products on the market for consumers today and more recently have ventured into the realm of video gaming with the Xbox and the Xbox 360. In fact, Microsoft is probably responsible for more products on the market than most people know because in the mid 1990′s they were broken up for being a monopoly and the brands that used to be branches of Microsoft are now their own companies.

Another thing that Seattle is famous for is starting the grunge music trend in the early 1990′s. Grunge music was a form of rock music and was largely inspired by punk, heavy metal and indie rock. Grunge is typically known for its angst filled or completely apathetic lyrics that seem melancholy and almost hopeless with life. Also, grunge musicians were usually known for their unkempt style and deadpan behavior while performing, forgoing the crazy and energetic antics of the hair bands and mainstream rock of the previous decade. Some of the more famous grunge bands were groups such as Nirvana and Pearl Jam, who of course have inspired many other acts across the country since they stopped producing new music themselves.

Lastly, Seattle is known for something that now exists in every suburb, city and possibly even rural area across the nation. This last thing that Seattle is famous for is Starbucks coffee, which is now the most popular brand of coffee in America by a lot. However, much like Microsoft, Starbucks has been in trouble recently for anti competitive practices from people who believe they are becoming somewhat like a monopoly.

Seattle is probably one of the most interesting cities in America so next time you are sitting around drinking your Starbucks coffee, playing on Facebook with your laptop produced by Microsoft and listening to Nirvana songs you should take a little time and show some gratitude to the beautiful pacific Northwest.

The capo is a fantastic and very interesting tool designed for the guitar. What you do is place the capo on any fret of the guitar and suddenly you have a Pandora’s box of new chord sounds, pitches, and keys at your disposal.

Although primarily used on an acoustic guitar, the capo is a unique tool for all guitars.

Lets take a look a 3 super creative uses for the capo.

1. Easy Key Changes

2. Pitch Variation

3. Song Writing

1. Easy Key Changes: By far the most common use of the capo is for easy key changes. If you are a beginner guitar player, or you just enjoy playing general open chords you can use the capo to change the key you are in. For example if you place the capo on the 3rd fret of your instrument and you play the C major chord shape, you are in reality now playing a D# or Eb major chord. This is great if you are playing with a keyboard player who will often times play in a flat key such as Eb major.

2. Pitch Variation: Chord variations aside, you will notice that the higher up you place your Capo on the fretboard, the higher the pitch and sound your strings will produce. This is great to try out if you want to get a unique sounding chord using common chord shapes. You can also get some nice sounding chords when you play in an arpeggio style of picking during a slow song.

3. Song Writing: If you enjoy developing original material on your instrument, the capo is wonderful for inspiring you onto new musical heights. Just place the capo wherever you like and begin jamming on your six string. You’ll be surprised how a common chord shape such as C major becomes something unique in a song due to the new key change and pitch variation a capo can provide for your guitar.

This article is about “Bands nirvana influenced”, you can find here a huge variety of articles about “Bands nirvana influenced”:

Nirvana was the one of the greatest bands of the 90′s. We all know that. We all know that their music influenced many other bands at that time and their music opened the door for many other grunge bands. All in all Nirvana was one of the most important bands in modern rock music. But what happened with Nirvana after Kurt Cobain died? How did their music influence other bands then and now? Does it still influence new bands and the teenage music masses?

I think the answer is yes. And I am not going to go into details such as post albums and tribute bands; I think the general approach is something that will explain this issue a little bit better. I think at first when Kurt Cobain died and Nirvana was no more Dave Grohl himself spread their music with Foo Fighters and Queens of Stone Age and other bands he was part of. So Nirvana’s influence continued in the work of Dave Grohl in particular. On the other hand Krist Novoselic didn’t have much influence on the music in his later attempts, which is obvious now seeing that he is now into politics and has forgotten the music life he once led.

But the influence that Nirvana and their music had, and still has, on people while they were playing and now after 15 years is something to be respected. When Nirvana played, people followed and were drawn to the music like fireflies to the light. That’s the best description of how their music was seen by the people, by teenagers, and the guys that are now working and some of them are in high government positions. The generations mostly influenced by Nirvana were people born from the early 1970′s to 1980′s. Those guys were 14 to 20 years old when Nirvana played and now are 30+ years old. My brother is in that age group and all his friends that once listened to Nirvana are all in high positions now and have great jobs. There are those people that of course didn’t make it, but they are in smaller numbers. And all the people I know that are successful and listened to Nirvana they still listen to it and consider them as the greatest.

This shows that Nirvana music didn’t have a brainwashing effect on those who knew how to listen. I love Nirvana. I was 11 years old when Kurt Cobain died, and I started listening to Nirvana in 96. Their music also influenced me and my generation in many ways, and their music was all about opening our minds. Many of us still listen to Nirvana while having serious jobs and college diplomas. It just goes to show that Nirvana was not music for the mindless like it was presented in the media. I once heard a woman say to her friend not to let their children listen to Nirvana, because that music makes people commit suicide. People fear what they don’t understand and they are close-minded and do not allow themselves to be told anything that goes against their opinion.

I just want to say that in the 21st century there are many kids who listen to Nirvana and who will grow up on their music. There are many things that influence us as human beings. A band we listen to is just a tiny part of that, but it can mean a lot.

This article is about “List of nirvana inspired bands”, you can find here a huge variety of articles about “List of nirvana inspired bands”:

A guitar is nothing less than a magnificent piece of art for those who are its true lovers. People have played this instrument for many centuries. They play it casually for fun, entertainment purposes, to gain personal satisfaction and even to earn money. However, there are some guitar idols who have etched their names in bold handwriting in the history of legendary guitar players. These guitarists will never be forgotten by their fans and music lovers across the globe.

The list of these extra-ordinarily talented people includes some big names like Carlos Santana, Jimmy Hendrix, Chuck Berry, Jimmy Page, Tom Morello and Bruce Springsteen. These names come from the new age and classical rock bands as well as solo talents who rocked the world while standing alone. These people have inspired hundreds of people around the world to follow their tunes and become skilled guitarists.

Carlos Santana, born as Carlos Augusto Alves Santana in the Mexico City has ruled the world of music with his hypnotising guitar tunes. The American Grammy Award winning talent has complete control over his Spanish guitar and he possesses perfection in playing the electric guitar. The hybridisation of these two brought by Mr. Santana totally mingles with one’s ears. His super hit records include Shaman, Supernatural, Zebop, Abraxas and the self-titled album Santana which have all reached the top ten list of the Billboard 200 charts.

The legendary Kurt Cobain, also famous due to his controversial death, is also remembered as one of the very few guitarists who rocked the world to their feet. The guitarist and lead singer of Nirvana has been the primary reason for the band’s huge success. His tracks like “Smells like Teen Spirit” and “Come as You Are” are still heard by millions around the world as their rock anthems.

When talking about hard rock bands who have revolutionized the metal genre, especially through the extraordinary talents of their guitarists, Metallica without any shadow of a doubt comes on top. Kirk Hammett, the lead guitarist and songwriter for Metallica, is honoured as the 11th best guitar player in the Rolling Stone’s 100 greatest guitarists of all time. Before joining Metallica, he rocked with the underground band Exodus. Joining Metallica polished his guitar playing talents to an unmatchable level. The crazy, but cool sounding strums of Kirk inspired millions around the world to play like him.

Jimmy Patrick Page, the guitarist of Led Zeppelin is another big name in the line-up of history’s legendary guitarists. Due to his guitar wonders, Led Zeppelin was the most successful band of the 70′s. Ranked at number 9 in the Rolling Stone’s list, he was considered as one of the most influential and versatile guitarists of all time.

When talking about new age rock idols, Tom Morello is one name worth mentioning. Tom is the guitarist of the famous band, Audioslave, who have enjoyed a huge amount of success in the recent years. Their versatility is especially noticeable in the guitar works of Morello.

This article is about “Podcast elementary classroom”, you can find here a huge variety of articles about “Podcast elementary classroom”:

The world’s audio consumer is captivated with the choice they have when it comes to listening options. Portable mp3 audio devices are allowing individuals to download and listen to personal interest podcasting anywhere they go.

Gone are the Walkmans and Discmans of the past. Now mp3 players can be found wrapped around the arms of runners or even made a part of clothing. Podcasting has inspired the imagination of home-based radio hosts, musicians, storytellers and business owners.

Now podcasting makes a jump to school. Podcasting is beginning to play a role in entertaining audio lessons. Students can listen to stories or learn tips on how to write an essay. Podcasting is coming into its own as a study tool that kids like.

Teachers are at the forefront of the elementary podcast movement as they scour the Internet to find educational podcasts suitable for the curriculum they are using. Many of these podcasts are free to use and were developed by educators in conjunction with broadcast professionals.

It is quite probable that grant funding has been used to develop some of these free podcasting sources for the advancement of education within schools.

Educators are even being urged to work with the children in their class to develop their own podcast that they in turn share with other educational podcasting consumers.

While podcasts are portable the truth is you can listen to any podcast through most computers, so an educational podcast could be downloaded and ‘consumed’ by the student using a headset at a stationary PC in a classroom setting.

One of the sites available to educators, parents and children is storynory.com. This site makes dozens of stories available with a decidedly British presentation. For children in the United States this may be an interesting texture to the stories. Children are even encouraged to make comments in the stories after listening.

Mathgrad.com is another site that supplies math instruction by podcast free of charge to students. Many other subjects are also available in podcasting downloads.

Children are learning at an earlier age how to navigate the Internet and use technology to its full advantage. Unlike adults who may struggle with learning the computer children learn early on not to fear the computer. Of course parental controls are needed, but the idea of educational podcasting should prove both ideal for teachers and parents and a treat for children who are especially curious about interacting with technology.

This article is about “A list of bands who were inspired by nirvana”, you can find here a huge variety of articles about “A list of bands who were inspired by nirvana”:

It would be impossible to describe the music scene of the 1990′s without mentioning the alternative rock music scene which dominated from the early part of the decade toward its middle part. Furthermore, the rise of grunge music that time defines an important part of what has been the alternative rock phenomenon in that decade. Grunge music is sometimes referred to as “Seattle Sound” because a lot of the bands then were from Seattle.

In enumerating the best bands of the grunge music scene then, (and justifying the choices in the process,) the following five of the biggest band names of the movement definitely made their mark in half-decade run highlighted by bands’ quick rise to fame and success but marred by problems such as drug abuse and a short period of fame for rock bands.

5. Soundgarden

Soundgarden was actually formed in 1984 in Seattle, Washington but did not actually gain success and recognition until the 1990′s because of Nirvana and Pearl Jam’s eventual success that plunged the entire grunge music scene into mainstream music. Soundgarden’s defining album in 1994, “Superunknown,” became their most successful album. The album itself ranked number 1 in the Billboard Top 200 charts and was nominated for the “Best Rock Album” in the Grammy Awards in 1995. The more renowned Soundgarden singles from the album, “Black Hole Sun” and “Spoonman,” each won a Grammy award.

4. Alice in Chains

Alice in Chains was another rock band from Seattle, Washington. The group was formed in 1987 and would eventually release three albums and an EP, “Jar of Flies,” responsible for over 10 million copies sold worldwide up to date. The group was known for their guitar-intense and distortion-filled music as exemplified in their album, “Dirt,” and this had a lot to do the group’s signature guitar-driven attack by Jerry Cantrell and vocalist Layne Staley’s singing.

Despite the successful tours, live performances and album releases by Alice in Chains however, Staley’s drug problems would affect the band’s future and his eventual death from substance overdose would cause its inevitable unofficial disbanding.

3. Stone Temple Pilots

Stone Temple Pilots, (STP,) is one big grunge rock band name that is from outside of Seattle. With over 17 million album copies of the group’s 5 albums sold in the U.S. alone, 15 singles topping the Billboard charts, a Grammy Award for “Best Hard Rock Performance” and several American Music Awards tucked under the group’s belt, STP remains as one of the more popular names among alternative bands in the early 1990′s.

Something noteworthy about STP is that despite the instantaneous rise in their number of fans because of their equally instantaneous successful debut album, “Core”, so did the harsh criticisms against them. In fact the “Rolling Stone” magazine in January 1994 simultaneously had the group as the “Best New Band” according to its readers and the “Worst New Band” according to its music critics. Nevertheless, Stone Temple Pilots would eventually release four more successful albums to etch a name among the grunge music groups of the generation before eventually disbanding in 2002.

2. Pearl Jam

Pearl Jam is another Seattle-based grunge rock band and is responsible for the album, “Ten.” “Ten” together with Nirvana’s “Nevermind,” is generally considered to had catapulted alternative rock in the early 90′s towards the mainstream music spotlight. While “Nevermind” was generally considered to have had a greater role in plunging the whole alternative rock business mainstream, “Ten” still had considerate influence on the runaway success that was the 1990′s alternative rock. Pearl Jam’s album in itself is certified 12x platinum at present and remains the group’s most successful album.

The band has been criticized early in its career as a “corporate cash-in” on the phenomenal rise of alternative rock during that time but would eventually prove to be praiseworthy because of the different causes it stood up for such as going against rock star excess, their much publicized battle against Ticketmaster and their refusal to create music videos of their shows. It is also worth noting that Pearl Jam has outlasted a lot of its contemporaries and its

1. Nirvana

The grunge group that tops the list has to be Nirvana. With the remarkable success of its single, “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” from its 1991 album, “Nevermind,” Nirvana almost single-handedly brought the whole alternative rock commercial success. The album in itself has already sold more than 10 million copies in the U.S. and more than 25 million internationally. Because of its feat, Nirvana is considered to be the “flagship band of Generation X” as aptly worded by Michael Azerrad of Rolling Stone.

Nirvana was so noteworthy in placing so much passion in perfecting its music that it had a lot of other drummers before being satisfied with Dave Grohl and it had to redo some of its songs such as “All Apologies” and “Heart Shaped Box” because it did not sound “perfect.”

Nirvana’s run came to a halt after Kurt Cobain’s death on April 8, 1994. However the support of Nirvana fans whose ranks have swelled by then for Nirvana records released after Cobain’s death only serve to highlight the legacy left by the band on the movement that was grunge rock.

This article is about “Fun brain algebra balance”, you can find here a huge variety of articles about “Fun brain algebra balance”:

“Why do I have to learn this stuff? I’m never going to use it!” If you’ve heard this complaint from your high school student, you may not have known quite how to answer it. After all, unless you’ve chosen a math-oriented career, you don’t sit around working out algebra problems all day. What you may not realize is that you do use the skills that you gained in algebra class every day. Whether you are working on budget numbers for your household, figuring out money management issues, or solving multiple-step problems, you are using logical thinking skills that you gained in high school. Without these skills, you wouldn’t know how to solve many of life’s everyday problems. Here are some key lessons from algebra that your child needs to know before she graduates high school.

Negative Numbers:

Whether your child is balancing a check book, or budgeting for a company, she will definitely deal with negative numbers. Understanding that -5 plus -7 equals -12 is imperative when she’s dealing with money. Mistakes made while balancing a check book can cost her a lot more money in penalty fees if she’s writing checks for money she doesn’t have. You may not have made the connection with adding negative numbers and algebra class, but understanding how to add and subtract negative values is an important skill taught in algebra. This is one example of what your student needs to know before graduating high school. Understanding proper money management skills will help her have a better quality of life and help her to make wise decisions about her spending habits.

How to Build Formulas:

Algebra teaches a student how to build a mathematical formula to answer a question. For instance, when your child buys her first car, she will be most interested in finding out what her monthly payment is going to be. The amount that she can afford to pay each month is going to dictate how much she can spend on the car. Knowing how to create a formula to figure out the monthly payment for a car that costs “x” amount of money is an important life skill. While the salesman at the car dealer will be happy to provide her with the information, if she walks into the dealership with a clear idea of what the numbers should look like, she’ll be less likely to fall prey to dishonest practices. Knowing how to build formulas will also help her figure out how much of a house payment she can afford. Or whether it’s a better choice for her to rent or buy a home. When changing jobs, she’ll need to have an understanding of how much of a salary she needs to maintain her standard of living. Knowing how to figure these numbers out is an important part of becoming a self-sufficient individual.

Solving Multiple-Step Problems:

The study of algebra teaches your student how to look at a multi-faceted problem and break it down so that it can be solved piece by piece. Whether your child aspires to a college degree, or prefers jumping into a hands-on job right out of high school, knowing how to solve multiple-step problems is going to be imperative. Negotiating with a client on a customer service call, reasoning with an irate customer at a department store, or figuring out how to set up the logistics of a meeting so that all VIPs are in attendance are all tasks that involve problem solving skills. Employers recognize and reward employees who are able to successfully tackle big problems. No matter which career path your child chooses, she’ll be well-served if she has learned problem-solving skills.

Next time your child wonders when she’ll ever use algebra, remind her of the life skills that she is building. If she is really struggling in class, she may need more one-on-one attention. Speak with her teacher to see how your student can get extra help. There may be tutors available through her school. If not, consider hiring a professional algebra tutor to help her with her algebra studies. The best way to help her is to get her help before she is so far behind that she begins to think she’ll never catch up and gets discouraged. Algebra skills are important life skills for the real world. She won’t be under your roof for much longer, make sure she is equipped to face the real world with confidence.
