This article is about “Halo beyonce piano piece”, you can find here a huge variety of articles about “Halo beyonce piano piece”:

Now and then, people ask me for advice on where to begin with the daunting world of classical music recordings. They’ve heard bits here and there, they’re curious, they imagine they’d probably enjoy it once they got involved, but they wouldn’t know where to look if they walked into — oops, I mean logged onto eMusic.com and started poking around. My strategy is always to offer a handful of suggestions, in as wide a variety as possible. “Try these,” I say. “See what grabs you, and we’ll work from there.”

That’s the idea behind this Dozen. Here are 12 recordings selected to entice people who have had little exposure to classical music, but who know they want more. I’ve carefully contrived the list to cover a wide range of colors and styles, instruments and moods, shapes and sizes. Some pieces are light, some heavy; some charming, some imposing; some dramatic, meditative, amorous, tragic, lofty, goofy. All in all, the selections encompass 1,200 years of music history — and they’ve all been chosen to make a good first impression and whet your appetite. They’re “gateway” works, if you will. I’d be surprised if there were anyone who couldn’t find something on this list that pleasured and intrigued them. Think of it as a sampler, a tapas menu: if you don’t care for the stuffed olives/Renaissance Mass, try the garlic shrimp/20th-century string quartet.

Are these the twelve greatest works ever? No, though some of them could justly claim a place on such a list. Most of these are works I actually have suggested to people, and which have gotten a favorable response. Others I have seen appeal to newbies in ways I never expected. Others are just a few personal favorites which I proselytize for whenever possible.

Gregorian Chant For Easter

Artist: Capella Antiqua, Munich

Release Date: 2006

The recorded history of “classical” music in the Western “art” tradition (so many of these terms are so problematic) begins in the medieval period with music composed for church use — settings of sacred texts in Latin for choirs singing in unison, just one note at a time. The serene meditativeness of Gregorian chant (named for liturgical reformer Pope Gregory, 540-604, who launched the practice according to legend) has made it popular in recent years, usable as a backdrop for anything from yoga to post-rave chilling. There are plenty of chant CDs out there, some with hipper packaging, but these performances by the male voices of Capella Antiqua, Munich, surrounded by a cathedral-like halo of reverb, are stately and gorgeous.

Ockeghem: Requiem

Artist: Ensemble Organum, Marcel Peres

Release Date: 1993

A friend of mine, also a musician, has played a number of classical pieces for his infant son, and reports that Allen seems to like the music of Johannes Ockeghem (c. 1410-1497) best. It could be the way this Renaissance composer weaves voices together to create a sort of ear-blanket. Or perhaps this music’s low gentle murmuring reminds him of sounds in utero. Either way, the Ensemble Organum’s performance of this Requiem (a Mass to honor the dead) is spacious and calm, but also possesses a sort of authoritative, virile resonance.

Bach: Six Concertos for the Margrave of Brandenburg

Artist: Trevor Pinnock

Release Date: 2008

Incomparably joyous and sparkling, these six pieces can claim to be both the greatest of baroque instrumental works and, with the possible exception of Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons” concertos, the most popular. Composers in the baroque era (roughly 1600-1750) prioritized a musical skill called counterpoint, the practice of combining independent instrumental or vocal lines into a complex whole. Johann Sebastian Bach had no rivals (and surely never will) in this art, giving every section of the orchestra something rewarding — and fun — to do. He built structures of grandeur and irresistible energy. Each of these concertos are scored for a different combination; if you’d like a taste, try the first movement of the Concerto no. 2, in which four bright-toned soloists (violin, flute, oboe and trumpet) dance festively around the accompanying string orchestra, or the fleet finale of the Concerto no. 3, a whirlwind showpiece for strings alone.

MOZART: Overtures

Artist: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

After Bach and his contemporaries had brought Baroque counterpoint to its peak, composers of the next generation reacted by lightening the texture of their music. The melody line dominated, and the middle and bass instruments were entrusted with harmonic and rhythmic accompaniment rather than with independent lines of their own. This new style, though, was no less bubbling and energetic — see the overtures (instrumental preludes) which Mozart (1756-91) wrote for his operas. Brilliant attention-getters, arresting but never too pompous, full of catchy tunes, cheeky wind solos and stirring trumpet-and drum passages, these overtures are played with great verve by Capella Istropolitana.

CHOPIN: Etudes Opp. 10 and 25

Artist: Freddy Kempf

Release Date: 2004

Frederic Chopin’s music, full of innovations in nuances of harmony and delicate coloristic effects, pushed the boundaries of what a piano could do. In these two sets of etudes (completed in 1832 and 1836), he also pushed piano technique, making unprecedented demands of virtuosity in works that are still among the most richly dazzling ever written. Not all the pieces are finger-tanglers, though; some are studies in sensitive touch and singing melody. Though pianist Freddy Kempf’s technique is precise, these etudes are for him poetry first; in op. 10 no. 3 in E or op. 25 no. 1 in A-flat, he phrases the surface melody with the expressivity a great vocalist might bring to it.

Pearl Fishers and Other Famous Operatic Duets

Artist: Various Artists

It occurred to me that an album of duets might make an even better introduction to opera than one of solo arias — even though those big diva/divo moments are what the general public thinks of when they hear the term opera. Duets, of course, display the character interplay that the dramatic side of opera is all about: love, conflict, friendship — or betrayal, as in the searing finale to Act II of Verdi’s Otello, when Iago falsely swears loyalty to the title character. Two rapturous and justly popular duets recorded here come from French operas, the rest from Italian. Complete recordings of many of these operas are also available on eMusic, so if these excerpts whet your appetite, you can move on to explore the entire work.

Dvorak / Haydn / Shostakovich: String Quartets

Artist: Quartetto Cassoviae

Release Date: 2000

Contained on this disc is a mini-history of the string quartet itself: an elegant, buoyant piece (1799) by Franz Josef Haydn, a pioneer of the form; a fragrantly tuneful example (1893) by Antonin Dvorak, written under the influence of American folksong; and a bitter, semi-autobiographical work (1960) by Dmitri Shostakovich, reflective of his state of mind during a life lived under Soviet oppression. The Quartetto Cassoviae’s performance of this last quartet is perhaps the disc’s most impressive: it’s taut, wiry, grippingly expressive and even a little nightmarish.

Alexander Borodin: Symphony No.2 – Conducted by Carlos Kleiber & Erich Kleiber

Artist: Kleiber

Release Date: 2003

I chose this symphony because I clearly remember my sister, eight or nine at the time, dragged to one of my school orchestra concerts and, at its conclusion, telling me she liked this piece best. The brusque gesture that launches Alexander Borodin’s Second Symphony (1876) is definitely one of the more arresting openings: glowering, passionate and Russian, Russian, Russian. Compare it to the sinuous oboe melody that comes later, and you hear the two sides of Borodin’s musical personality: barbaric vs. sensuous, both tinged with the exotic folk colors of ancient Asian tribes. This disc is also the only one I know that offers father-son performances of the same work, by Erich (1890-1956) and Carlos Kleiber (1930-2004).

STRAVINSKY: 125th Anniversary Album – The Rite of Spring / Violin Concerto (Stravinsky, Vol.

Artist: Jennifer Frautschi

When Igor Stravinsky got a commission to write music for a ballet depicting ancient fertility rituals, did he intend from the start to revolutionize musical history? He filled his colorful score (completed in 1913) with pounding, asymmetrical rhythms and harsh dissonances — unprecedented elements at the time; he’s one of the many composers in the first few decades of the 20th century who tossed a bomb into the middle of Romantic-era assumptions about what music could be. This earthy, viscerally intense showpiece still startles audiences — especially those who see classical music as something stuffy and genteel. Think of it as heavy metal classical. Robert Craft, a longtime colleague of the composer, conducts a particularly gutsy and un-pretty performance.

Strauss: Symphonia Domestica / Eine Alpensinfonie / Oboe Concerto / Duett-Concertino

Artist: Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra

Release Date: 2006

This disc shows the two sides of composer Richard Strauss. In the Symphonia domestica (1903) and Eine Alpensinfonie (An Alpine Symphony, 1915), he capped the tradition of German romanticism with two of the grandest and most opulent orchestral works ever; in his two nostalgic concertos (one for oboe from 1945, the other for clarinet and bassoon from 1947), he revived the spirit of Mozart in slender, tuneful, but autumnal pieces for a (much) smaller orchestra. Oboe soloist Jonathan Small, in particular, plays with ravishing fluency, and conductor Gerard Schwarz is especially adept in this soaring, sweeping music.

Daughters Of The Lonsome Isle

Artist: Margaret Leng Tan

Release Date: 1994

Just by inserting screws, rubber erasers and other tidbits between a piano’s strings, John Cage (1912-1992) was able to turn the instrument into a miniature percussion orchestra. This was just one of the avant gardist’s many innovations. On this disc, keyboardist Margaret Leng Tan, the world’s foremost toy piano virtuoso, pays homage to Cage’s experiments, his rhythmic vitality and the Zen-inspired spirit that led him to ask profound conceptual questions about music. But even as Cage challenged traditional notions of music, it’s not hard to find great beauty, wit, depth and spiritual gentleness in his work. It’s scarcely possible, for example, not to fall in love with Cage’s pulsing, gnomic Bacchanale or the elegiac In the Name of the Holocaust, which proves that the instrument he called a “prepared piano” was just as capable of stark intensity.

Reich: Different Trains

Artist: The Duke Quartet, Andrew Russo & Marc Mellits

As a child in the early ’40s, composer Steve Reich used to travel across the U.S. by train each year. In thinking about the very “different trains” he could have been riding as a Jew had he grown up in Europe, Reich was inspired to compose this powerful work for string quartet and tape. Snippets of recorded interviews with actual railroad employees are woven among the urgently churning string parts, with their licks echoing the speakers’ vocal inflections. Also included here is Reich’s 1967 Piano Phase, which was a groundbreaking early work that used a compositional technique that caught his imagination: complex rhythmic effects achieved by subtle shifts in temporal coordination between musicians, creating a trance-like rippling effect.

This article is about “Thailand tourism disadvantages”, you can find here a huge variety of articles about “Thailand tourism disadvantages”:

The following article will briefly explore the comparative advantages and disadvantages of the United States fiance visa and the United States Marriage Visa.

The travel document which is commonly utilized to bring a foreign fiance to the United States is referred to as the K-1 visa. The K1 fiance visa permits the visa holder to stay in the United States for a statutorily prescribed period of time: 90 days. Within this 90 day period the couple must legally marry and apply for adjustment of status in order for the foreign fiance, now spouse, to remain lawfully in the USA.

Immigrant marriage visas are somewhat different from their K-1 counterparts because the Immigrant spousal visa confers lawful permanent residence to the alien spouse upon lawful admission by the United States Customs and Border Protection Service (USCBP) at an American Port of Entry. There are basically two types of Immigrant spouse visas: the CR-1 visa and the IR-1 visa. The CR1 visa provides conditional lawful permanent residence to the visa holder upon being lawfully admitted to the United States. In general, this means that the alien spouse of a United States Citizen in the USA must submit an application to have the conditionality of their residence lifted before they will be permitted to remain in the United States for an indefinite period of time. The IR-1 visa is meant for use by spouses of U.S. Citizens who have been legally married for at least two years at the time that the alien spouse is lawfully admitted to the US by the Customs and Border Protection Service (USCBP).

The US fiance visa process moves comparatively quicker compared to the Immigrant marriage visa process. However, the United States fiance visa is considered by many to be an inferior travel document compared to an immigrant visa because of the aforementioned status differential. To put it simply: entering the U.S.A. in lawful permanent resident status places a foreign loved one in a significantly better position compared to an foreign national entering the USA in K-1 visa status. For some, the immigration status of an alien loved one is less concerning compared to the issue of getting said loved one admitted to the USA as fast as legally possible. The K-1 visa offers a sort of expedited route to admission to the USA, but it should be noted that the K-1 process effectively bifurcates the Green Card process thereby necessitating adjustment of status upon arrival which can be costly and time consuming.

Those interested in gaining more insight into issues surrounding K-1 and Immigrant visas are well advised to look into the adjustment of status process in order to come to an informed decision about what type of travel document best suits the needs and preferences of those concerned.

This article is about “Michael sandel justice juvenile justice”, you can find here a huge variety of articles about “Michael sandel justice juvenile justice”:

Few people know this, but our age is an amazing time for people who love philosophy.

When I was in college 30 years ago, philosophy was strictly an academic exercise and there were few resources available for people, like me, who view philosophy more as a way of life or avocation than as a job.

Today, however, all that has changed.

There are three or four excellent “magazines” about philosophy – such as Philosophy Now and The Philosopher’s Magazine – that are filled with funny, off-beat, irreverent articles about philosophical topics. A number of top-rate publishing houses, mostly in the UK, such as Routledge and Blackwell Publishing, produce books aimed at a general philosophical readership.

There are philosophy radio programs such as Philosophy Talk, coffee houses, salons, adult education classes and literally hundreds of websites for the interested reader. There are even philosophy comic books, such as LogiComix about the life of British logician Bertrand Russell. It’s simply amazing. It’s a golden age of philosophy, I think.

The irony, however, is that there is still no solid consensus on what, precisely, philosophy actually is. In its historical and etymological sense, philosophy is literally “love (philia) of wisdom (Sophia),” and that is always how I have looked upon it. Philosophy, for me, is the attempt to reflect upon experience in order to understand more about life and how we are to live. My aims, like those of Socrates, are primarily practical: I want to understand the world and myself to live better.

Today, there are three, perhaps four major “schools” or approaches to philosophy, each with their own journals, intellectual heroes and methodologies. It is one of the scandals of contemporary philosophy that these schools are somewhat incommensurable, meaning they are so different in their approaches and ideals they are almost incapable of speaking to one another. It’s as though organic chemistry and 17th century French literature are forced to share the same offices and pretend they are the same discipline (I exaggerate but you get the point).

The first approach may be called, for lack of a better word, Traditional Philosophy: this is the approach now largely taught only in Catholic universities. It is primarily historical in orientation, a “history of philosophy” style in which students study the thought of, say, the ancient Greeks, and Descartes, the British empiricists, Kant, Hegel and so on. There is very little attempt to think through how the thought of these philosophical greats can be reconciled. The idea appears to be that by working through all of these great thinkers, eventually the student will come to his or her own philosophical conclusions — although there is really no fixed “method” or approach given for doing so. I always think of this as the University of Chicago or Great Books approach. A variation of this approach is Catholic philosophy, including various schools of Thomism (such as the Transcendental Thomism of Merechal, Karl Rahner and, my guru, Bernard J.F. Lonergan)

The second major approach to philosophy today is what is known as Continental Philosophy. This is the philosophy that is most commonly taught in Europe and, again, in some Catholic universities in the U.S. In practice, it means primarily the philosophical systems of phenomenology, existentialism, so-called “critical theory” and their postmodern descendants. When I was in college, this is what I studied (in addition to traditional philosophy). We read the classic texts of phenomenology as well as such trendy philosophers as Jean-Paul Sartre, Merleau-Ponty, Heidegger, Karl Jaspers, Max Scheler, Edith Stein and others. Today, those names have largely been replaced by those of postmodern French thinkers such as Michel Foucault, Jacques Derrida, Jean Baudrillard, Jean-François Lyotard. While classical Husserlian phenomenology does attempt to “solve” major philosophical problems and actually be a descriptive science, in practice students of Continental Philosophy, like their Traditional Philosophy counterparts, spend much of their time studying the works of individual thinkers and writing papers on aspects of their thought. (There is a greater interest in Continental Philosophy in social and political questions, however.)

The third and allegedly dominant approach to philosophy today is Analytic Philosophy. This is the philosophy most commonly taught in the UK and in major U.S. universities. Built upon the infrastructure of British empiricists such as David Hume, Analytic Philosophy appeared in the early 20th century through the work of such thinkers as Bertrand Russell, Gottlob Frege, G.E. Moore and Ludwig Wittgenstein. When I was in college, I found Analytic Philosophy to be mostly unintelligible gibberish. The emphasis on symbolic logic and the solving of trivial intellectual “puzzles” was, to me, an absurd waste of time.

In the past few years, however, I’ve been reading more about Analytic Philosophy and I am now much more impressed. Analytic Philosophy has matured over the past few decades and is now more of a philosophical “style” than it is a collection of doctrines. The style is more like that of my hero, Bernard J.F. Lonergan, in that Analytic Philosophy is much more interested in actually solving philosophical problems than it is in clarifying the thought of past philosophers. Thus, Analytic Philosophy is characterized by a thematic, rather than a “history of philosophy,” approach. It uses or creates a specialized technical vocabulary to elucidate the various “options” available in any given philosophical issue — marshals the evidence in favor or against those options — and then attempts to actually “settle” the issue. It’s actually quite refreshing.

The only problem with Analytic Philosophy from the perspective of a traditional philosopher or “lover of wisdom” is that it’s still focused primarily on trivial problems or mere puzzles (perhaps because those are the easiest ones to “solve”). Academic analytic philosophy is often little more than “chloroform in print,” boring to the point of dispatching its readers into a catatonic stupor. The cure for this tedium has been, over the past several years, the appearance of those popular philosophy journals and publishing houses I mentioned earlier. Precisely because they are aiming at a wider audience, the popular philosophy authors have to turn their attention to the Big Issues that interest real people – and thus are forced by the market to abandon the tedium beloved by academics and use their philosophical skills to address topics people actually care about. An example of how wonderful this can be is a book I am reading right now, Michael Sandel’s magisterial Justice. It’s clear, concise, lays open the various options available on contentious issues, concerns serious subjects (what is justice?) and doesn’t resort to pretentious displays of symbolic logic to make its points.

These days, I mostly read good Catholic philosophy (such as can be found in the American Catholic Philosophical Quarterly or Method: A Journal of Lonergan Studies ) and “popular” analytic books such as Justice or those produced by Routledge. I still can’t read academic analytic philosophy journals. I tried subscribing to Faith and Philosophy, the (mostly analytic) journal of the Society of Christian Philosophers, but found it deadly dull and exhibiting the worst aspects of analytic pretentiousness. Here’s a sample, taken from John Turri’s essay, “Practical and Epistemic Justification in Alston’s Perceiving God” (July 2008, p. 290):

“Alston’s thesis is that putative perceptions of God often justify beliefs about God. A subject S has a putative perception of God when S has an experience e in which it seems to S that God appears to S as P. If, based on e, S forms the “M-belief” that God is P, then S has a justified belief that God is P. An M-belief is a belief that God is P, which is based on a putative perception of God. (I will often substitute ‘q’ for the proposition that God is P.) I dunno. My reaction to writing like that is the same as George Will’s: Just because life is absurd that doesn’t mean philosophy should be as well.

I don’t mean to pick on John Turri, whom I am sure is a great guy and a lot smarter than I am. But this sort of stuff is meant solely for professional philosophers in universities — and is largely what turns people off to philosophy as an academic discipline. If Socrates had spoken like that, they probably would have forced him to drink hemlock much earlier and philosophy would never have gotten off the ground.

This article is about “Do i still figure in your life piano music”, you can find here a huge variety of articles about “Do i still figure in your life piano music”:

There is a magic to music. You can dissect it mathematically and have a keen understanding of the science of sound waves and all sorts of other “knowledge” about how music is constructed and received by the ear, but it will tell you nothing about what music really is. Music operates at a soul level that all the science and math in the world just can’t describe. You can’t really boil beauty and wanting to tap your foot down to a lab paper.

Sure, folks have made measurements of faces and bodies and all kinds of what not into figuring out who is in a position to be statistically seen as attractive, but it still tells you nothing about why. It’s no different with music. There really is a magic involved and wanting to look inside that black box may have you thinking about wanting to learn how to play on piano.

And I’m not just talking about classical music here. I enjoy Rachmoninoff and Beethoven’s 9th for the brilliance and complexity, but the guitar riff from the opening of “Sweet Child Of Mine” is just awesome as well. And even though I’ve spent the most part of my life being involved in and around music, it never ceases to amaze me just how much really good music there is.

Perhaps that is why so many people pick up a guitar or sit down at a piano and begin to pluck out a few timid first notes. Music moves you to be a part of it, to participate in the process.

You don’t have to have the ability or desire to create music of your own to want to learn how to play on piano, or any other instrument, for that matter. Music moves many people to dance. Others, like myself, prefer to sing. And music old and new draws in thousands of aspiring new musicians into the process of participating in the music. While music is made to be listened to, it also pulls at you to be a part of it. To make it and feel it and love it in a deeper way.

So maybe it was that song on the radio where you just love the piano line that has you wanting to be able to do that yourself. To participate, to be a part of the music.

Now I won’t fill you with hot air at this point. It’s not going to be easy. All of us, at one time or another have felt a strong desire to try to do what we’ve heard musicians do. But after a couple of thousand clunky notes we just go back and listen some more. And that’s part of the allure really.

It would be great if everyone could just dive right in with a sax and a violin and start making great music, but it takes a lot of practice and work to learn how to do that. It’s why we listen and are amazed by great musicians. They are doing something we wish we could do. But the good news is that you don’t have to attend Juliard or be some sort of prodigy to be able to be a part of the music

This article is about “Michael jackson and bamds of america”, you can find here a huge variety of articles about “Michael jackson and bamds of america”:

We speak the same language (well besides a few spelling discrepancies!), we eat the same food and watch the same films, but the actual differences between British and American culture are mammoth!

There are several things that don’t quite translate from one side of the ocean to the other, and one is music. Don’t get me wrong, we love some of the huge American musicians as much as we love our own over here, like the late great Michael Jackson, Aerosmith, even our love of rap music came from overseas, it’s safe to say British talent doesn’t have as much success in such a vast market when the tables are turned! For decades British bands have been trying to make it big over in the US with only an select few making the grade, and even then they struggle to climb up the charts.

Finally, we’re beginning to see a breakthrough (and to be fair, besides The Beatles and Take That it’s been a long time coming!) and making progress in the big U S of A! Not because we’ve started making better music, the talent has always been there, but because our fabulous British culture is finally being embraced and appreciated, our love and music and fashion going hand in hand with it.

We have the trendsetters of America to thank for this, like Madonna, who fell in love with our culture around the same time she ‘fell in love’ with Guy Richie, or Gwyneth Paltrow, helping boost Coldplay around the globe (no matter how much Chris Martin will say it’s down to the music). But for us Brits, music goes hand in hand with fashion; it’s more than a hobby, for many of us, it’s a lifestyle. We follow fashion like we follow music, and in Britain, they are intertwined so much it’s hard sometimes to distinguish what came first…

Gio Goi clothing originated from Manchester, once again, closely tied in with music, this time taking its inspiration from the rave scene in Manchester that was massive at the time. In-keeping with its music roots, Gio Goi was quickly adopted by our own musicians, advocates being Pete Doherty, Liam Gallagher and even Lilly Allen, and that’s only naming a few!

With musicians queuing up to wear the Gio Goi label loud and proud, it was only a matter of time before the celebs from across the seas embraced our fashion revolution, which we can see changing equally as quickly as the music. Once again, in order to break the US you need to know how to get through the door, and who better to get you through the door than the incredibly popular trendsetter of the moment, Rhianna.

The Brit men’s clothing brand is now hoping for growth in the US with Rhianna sporting their latest ranges of rock and roll designer clothes. Being a brand that originates from the music scene, it makes sense to get the musicians to open the door, Rhianna being the first to wear Gio Goi clothing loud and proud, with more to come. Watch this space… who knows who’ll be next to take that trip over the water and make it!

This article is about “A list of bands who were inspired by nirvana”, you can find here a huge variety of articles about “A list of bands who were inspired by nirvana”:

It would be impossible to describe the music scene of the 1990′s without mentioning the alternative rock music scene which dominated from the early part of the decade toward its middle part. Furthermore, the rise of grunge music that time defines an important part of what has been the alternative rock phenomenon in that decade. Grunge music is sometimes referred to as “Seattle Sound” because a lot of the bands then were from Seattle.

In enumerating the best bands of the grunge music scene then, (and justifying the choices in the process,) the following five of the biggest band names of the movement definitely made their mark in half-decade run highlighted by bands’ quick rise to fame and success but marred by problems such as drug abuse and a short period of fame for rock bands.

5. Soundgarden

Soundgarden was actually formed in 1984 in Seattle, Washington but did not actually gain success and recognition until the 1990′s because of Nirvana and Pearl Jam’s eventual success that plunged the entire grunge music scene into mainstream music. Soundgarden’s defining album in 1994, “Superunknown,” became their most successful album. The album itself ranked number 1 in the Billboard Top 200 charts and was nominated for the “Best Rock Album” in the Grammy Awards in 1995. The more renowned Soundgarden singles from the album, “Black Hole Sun” and “Spoonman,” each won a Grammy award.

4. Alice in Chains

Alice in Chains was another rock band from Seattle, Washington. The group was formed in 1987 and would eventually release three albums and an EP, “Jar of Flies,” responsible for over 10 million copies sold worldwide up to date. The group was known for their guitar-intense and distortion-filled music as exemplified in their album, “Dirt,” and this had a lot to do the group’s signature guitar-driven attack by Jerry Cantrell and vocalist Layne Staley’s singing.

Despite the successful tours, live performances and album releases by Alice in Chains however, Staley’s drug problems would affect the band’s future and his eventual death from substance overdose would cause its inevitable unofficial disbanding.

3. Stone Temple Pilots

Stone Temple Pilots, (STP,) is one big grunge rock band name that is from outside of Seattle. With over 17 million album copies of the group’s 5 albums sold in the U.S. alone, 15 singles topping the Billboard charts, a Grammy Award for “Best Hard Rock Performance” and several American Music Awards tucked under the group’s belt, STP remains as one of the more popular names among alternative bands in the early 1990′s.

Something noteworthy about STP is that despite the instantaneous rise in their number of fans because of their equally instantaneous successful debut album, “Core”, so did the harsh criticisms against them. In fact the “Rolling Stone” magazine in January 1994 simultaneously had the group as the “Best New Band” according to its readers and the “Worst New Band” according to its music critics. Nevertheless, Stone Temple Pilots would eventually release four more successful albums to etch a name among the grunge music groups of the generation before eventually disbanding in 2002.

2. Pearl Jam

Pearl Jam is another Seattle-based grunge rock band and is responsible for the album, “Ten.” “Ten” together with Nirvana’s “Nevermind,” is generally considered to had catapulted alternative rock in the early 90′s towards the mainstream music spotlight. While “Nevermind” was generally considered to have had a greater role in plunging the whole alternative rock business mainstream, “Ten” still had considerate influence on the runaway success that was the 1990′s alternative rock. Pearl Jam’s album in itself is certified 12x platinum at present and remains the group’s most successful album.

The band has been criticized early in its career as a “corporate cash-in” on the phenomenal rise of alternative rock during that time but would eventually prove to be praiseworthy because of the different causes it stood up for such as going against rock star excess, their much publicized battle against Ticketmaster and their refusal to create music videos of their shows. It is also worth noting that Pearl Jam has outlasted a lot of its contemporaries and its

1. Nirvana

The grunge group that tops the list has to be Nirvana. With the remarkable success of its single, “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” from its 1991 album, “Nevermind,” Nirvana almost single-handedly brought the whole alternative rock commercial success. The album in itself has already sold more than 10 million copies in the U.S. and more than 25 million internationally. Because of its feat, Nirvana is considered to be the “flagship band of Generation X” as aptly worded by Michael Azerrad of Rolling Stone.

Nirvana was so noteworthy in placing so much passion in perfecting its music that it had a lot of other drummers before being satisfied with Dave Grohl and it had to redo some of its songs such as “All Apologies” and “Heart Shaped Box” because it did not sound “perfect.”

Nirvana’s run came to a halt after Kurt Cobain’s death on April 8, 1994. However the support of Nirvana fans whose ranks have swelled by then for Nirvana records released after Cobain’s death only serve to highlight the legacy left by the band on the movement that was grunge rock.

This article is about “Bands of american grand nationals scores”, you can find here a huge variety of articles about “Bands of american grand nationals scores”:

Jeep is an automobile band name and a division of Chrysler, an American automobile manufacturer. Jeep is one prominent name of luxury SUVs. Its compact bulky body, off-road driving and handling prowess is favored by many SUV enthusiasts. The Cherokee has always been built on a car-like unibody chassis instead of a body-o-frame design. It was done so in order for this luxury vehicle to have equal on ease in driving and handling, as it is off-road. But despite having a unibody chassis, the Cherokee’s excellence in driving through rough uneven terrain is never compromised mainly due to its advanced for wheel-drive systems. The latest version of the Jeep Grand Cherokee debuted for 2005 represents the model’s third generation. By far, it is the most sophisticated and most desirable mid-size luxury SUV. It can accommodate up to five passengers is available in three main trim levels in the following hierarchy: Laredo, Limited, and the Overland.

But an SRT8 is also sometimes offered, depending on the demand. This SUV is equipped with a standard 3.7 L V6 generating a 210 hp. However, for those who want more power in this monster machine, they can opt for a 4.7 L V8 that kicks off 235 hp or a 5.78 L V8 engine that boosts up to 330 hp. Yet, if one needs for more speed, the SRT8 actually comes with 6.1 L engine capable of generating up to 420 hp. All uses a five-speed automatic transmission and except for the SRT8 which comes in with an all-wheel drive, the Grand Cherokees are available either in two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive.

Of course, with this brute a machine, safety is not amiss. Standard safety features include traction control, energy management system, rear seat head rest, child seat lower anchorage, pre-tensioner, integrated seat belts, advanced airbags system, trunk release. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s crash test results the Grand Cherokee is has maximum injury protection capabilities for it was given full five stars for frontal and side crash test as well as getting a high rate for the frontal offset crash test.

The results only surmise that driving a Grand Cherokee on or off road provides you with amazingly smooth ride and handling, not to mention great speed, you can also be rest assured that the safety features it comes with are reliable. But of course, that is not reason Now, if you’re planning on flying to Las Vegas or New York with your friends or family and does not want to be bothered with having to hail a taxi in the busy streets of these cities, car rentals are just a few ticks away. You can ether call or make a reservation via the Internet. It is that easy to rent cars nowadays. Moreover, you also a have a wide range of vehicles to choose from.

This article is about “The climb number note”, you can find here a huge variety of articles about “The climb number note”:

These wall climbing tips are designed for augmenting both climbing skills and minimizing risks of injury. Even if you have been climbing for a while, a review of these procedures will ensure you are not deviating from the proper ways of climbing.

Loosening Up Your Muscles

Loosen up those muscles by doing some stretching. Do this about 30 minutes before you start climbing. This prepares your joints and ligaments for the climb. If the muscles are stiff, they will not be flexible and tire quickly.

Understand the Route

Do not just grope blindly when you climb. Study the surface features. Decide on the path you will take and follow it. Take due note of any potential rough spots and how you can go through it. When you get down, analyze your performance. Are you happy with it, or is there a way you can improve?

Tips on Keeping Your Balance

Remember this rule: use just enough grip strength to keep you balanced. A common mistake is gripping too tightly. This leads to forearm muscle fatigue.

By applying just the needed pressure, balance will be attained. As you ascend, position your body as close the wall as possible. This bolsters your balancing ability. It also limits stress on the grip.

Reducing Arm and Leg Fatigue

Use your legs to hold your weight, not your arms. The arms are for balance and weight shifting. Another wall climbing tip: if you are making movements that need upper body strength, proceed without hesitation. Taking too long will increase pressure on the body.

Avoid Jerky Movements

Learn how to climb smoothly. Erratic, uneven climbs will tire you easily. Consequently, your ascent will be slowed. Do not wriggle around; follow the path you planned out. Move smoothly and you will not have balance problems. Make sure you are aware of your movements.

Relaxation and Focus

Take it one step at a time. Think only of the next step, nothing more. When climbing, use only the required steps. This will conserve energy. Eventually, you will learn to be deliberate on your ascent.

Rest Spots

If the wall is high, look for some rest spots (an edge, overhang etc). Take a rest every 3 meters you climb. Even if you feel strong, take the break; your body will need it later.

Muscle Training

Work on the muscles on your arms, chest and legs. There are several weight and muscle training programs you can follow. This has to be accompanied by a balanced diet. If you are over or underweight, you will tire out quickly.

Notes on Falling

Push yourself away from the wall when you fall. Never let the rope circle on your body or equipment. Also try to learn to keep your feet down. Do not be discouraged if you fall; everyone does. The important thing is learning how to handle it.

Properly applied, these wall climbing tips will boost your climbing skills while reducing fatigue. You just need to be patient and work on the aspects mentioned. Slowly, you will notice improvement, which will build confidence.
