Wearing leather in snow

This article is about “Wearing leather in snow”, we hope to bring more articles about “Wearing leather in snow” in the near future:

Have you ever been in a situation where you had to clean a lot of snow off the car, or the kids wanted to have a sudden snowball fight, but your gloves got wet and the cold went right through to your fingers? Most of us have been in this situation more than once. If you were wearing fur lined leather gloves, your fingers would have stayed toasty warm and the water would have stayed on the outside of the leather gloves where it belonged.

The neat thing about these gloves is, well, lined with fur. You can not ask for a warmer pair of gloves than one that is lined with fur. Even on the coldest, harshest winter days or nights, you will be safe from frozen fingers and frostbite when they are covered in fur.

But what about the leather? Won’t it get ruined from wet snow? Actually, the better fur lined leather gloves are treated with a waterproofing agent and they should be fine from the wet snow and ice. Now you probably don’t want to submerge them in ice water if you can help it because each time they get wet you lose a little of the waterproofing treatment.

The good news is that you can buy waterproofing treatment and treat your gloves yourself. Do it a couple of times through the winter and the gloves should last you a very long time. You won’t have to buy another pair of gloves for years, or until you lose one of the gloves.

If you can find the same leather gloves, it’s a good idea to buy an extra pair, just in case you lose one glove. Here’s a thought, buy two or three pair of these leather gloves at once. Keep the rest as backups.

Fur lined leather gloves are great for driving, too. Fabric gloves, if kept dry, will certainly help to keep your hands warm when you touch the steering wheel in the car, but leather gloves repel the cold even better, especially when they are lined with fur.

Have you ever driven with fabric gloves and had the steering wheel slip from your hands while driving? This can be very dangerous! This won’t happen if you’re wearing leather driving gloves while driving. The leather will grip your steering wheel even better than hands without gloves. Driving gloves are always made of leather.

Sure, gloves of leather are more expensive than fabric gloves. In fact, you could buy several pair of fabric gloves for the price of one pair of leather gloves lined with fur. But how long do your fabric gloves last?

Most people have to buy several pairs of fabric gloves in one season. If your fur lined leather gloves last even two seasons (they should last a lot longer than that), then you have likely come out ahead of the game and saved some money.

During the holidays, is there always someone you need a last minute gift for that you forgot to put on your list? Keep a few pair of these leather gloves around and you’ll always have a great gift to give without having to run out on Christmas Eve to find something. Nobody but you will know it was a last minute thing.
